Another early baby!!!

Hi everyone -- we've had a VERY exciting weekend -- our little Squirmy decided to make an early entrance at 36 weeks 1 day!!! He is wonderful and tiny, and we are home and doing well -- climbing the mountains of breastfeeding challenges, but getting better all the time!! I will update with my birth story when I get a chance, but I could not have asked for a better unmedicated and fairly quick hospital birth.

His name, now, (although he definitely will remain Squirmy, judging from his demeaner!!!) is Meade Douglas Evans. He was 5 lbs. 12 oz. and 18 inches long, born Thursday night at 10 p.m.

Looks like our DDC was suddenly busy this weekend! I look forward to reading the other stories.

Congrats Mary!!! And welcome little Squirmy Hang in there with the nursing... my DD was a little early, too and it took her about 5-6 weeks to latch properly and get the hang of sucking. Be gentle with yourself and allow yourself a break.

Congratulations! Welcome baby Meade!!!

I'll give you the one piece of breastfeeding advice that was helpful to me with my dd...no matter what the challenges you face with nursing, commit to working your hardest for the first 6 weeks and then reassess the situation then My dd had signficant nursing issues in the beginning and I took that advice to heart...she was able to go from being bottlefed pumped milk (with a little formula for awhile because of supply issues) with awful sucking issues to fully nursing only in that time period. I thought about giving up practically every time when I'd be pumping at 2am and dd would start crying and want to eat at the same time. It was so worth it in the end though! I know how hard it can be to deal with BFing problems in the beginning, but I know you can do it mama!

Keep trying with the breastfeeding - my first had all sorts of problems and didn't gain any weight until 9 weeks but we eventually got the hang of it and he's a big ole 8 year old now! You can do it mama!
