Britney Spears, so annoyed

Thread Starter
I saw that there is this scupture of Britney Spears giving birth. I really don't care about the image as a whole, but what I do care about is that she had a C-section! She did not have a natural birth, in fact in an article she said she WANTED a C-section. Why did they not show a picture of here belly getting sliced open like 35% of the women in some states in the US?? I do like the idea of the scupture because it is showing an active, natural birth for the public that may help change the idea of birth in this country. I am just mad because this is not what happened with her, she did not have her baby this way, this is a lie. Although I suppose the artist created it for some other reasons anyway. Just venting...

One has nothing to do with the other. The artist has done other sculputures and they are not done with the celebrities permission.. I think the artist does it to get the publicity.

Yeah, how many in labor women, crowning are holding a bear skin rug like a sex kitten?

This is why I love google. I didn't know what they were talking about and I googled "Britney Spears sculpture birth" and there it was. A sculpture of BS holding a bears head on hands and knees. Yea. I have a hard time believing that she commissioned this!!

she did not commission it. if you go the celebrity-babies.com site, you can find a blurb about the sculpture with a link to the artist's or gallery's site with more info.

i, too, found the actual sculpture pose a little annoying considering her actual chosen method of birthing her child. what i found even weirder was the artist's given reasons for creating the sculpture depicting britney, something about her being a young celebrity mom who was choosing "to give life" when perhaps many others wouldn't. huh?

but if i didn't KNOW it was SUPPOSED to be britney spears, the sculpture might become more interesting to me.

I read about the sculpture before I saw a picture. I was thinking it would show her strapped down to an operating room table, having her belly sliced open for an elective c-section. THAT would have made a very different "political statement" than what the artist was intending. Still, tacky tacky tacky. Artit is getting lots of free publicity. :-(

OMG - this is beyond appalling.
Isn't that just absolutely weird? She didn't give birth like that. So why wouldn't he choose someone famous who did?
I'm just really confused as to why it has ANY importance, based on the fact that it's false.

Weird. Just, weird.

I see no resemblance to Britney at all in this sculpture... other than the pose

Okay, that was low, sorry.

But seriously, you'd think a well known artist could at least create something that would resemble her. Its like he just created a generic face and called it Britney.

I, too, am irritated by the whole thing.

And anyway, who would birth on a bear skin rug! Well, I guess someone who could afford to replace it...

y'all should read the articles attached to these things, they explain stuff sometimes...

he put her on a rug "to convey the commemoration of the traditional bearskin rug baby picture"

artists are artists, man, they can do whatever they want

Annoying...frankly anything about BS is annoying to me.

I think I'll skip taking a peak at the sculpture, though. I don't want to spend the next 14 days trying to get that image out of my mind.

I was considering going off about how it's intended as anti-abortion advertising, but instead:

How the heck is she supposed to deliver uphill? I mean, yeah, she's not in lithotomy, but she's still pointed upwards in back there.

That was exactly my thought. What an odd position for crowning. It defies gravity.

My thought too. Regardless of the other issues, if he was going to make a sculpture like this it would be nice if the positioning were more accurate!

Other than that, no comment!

I've thought and thought about this, and my only conclusion is that it's a publicity stunt for the artist.... maybe? Using Britney's name is sure to get everyone's attention, ya know?
