so, what do i need to know before my ultra sound?

I managed to avoid any kind of clinic, testing, and us upto 39 weeks, thanks.... now today, i have no idea what to expect...

we def plan on telling them we do not want to see it, we do not want to know the sex, and god forbid, if they think they see something wrong, we do not want to know that either, we just need to know if the head is up or down.

what can i say, do, etc....

what can you tell me to keep me from freaking....

and, what do i need to do to make sure it goes well?

I would just tell the tech just what you said in your post...we dont want so see or hear anything.

not sure how your u/s office works....noramlly a tech takes the pics and then (after you are gone) reports to a doctor who then reports to your doctor/midwife. most dont tell you immediatly if something is wrong....they let the drs pass that along...

hope all is great! and no worries!! just tell them to keep the tvs off!!

love_homebirthing had a really good post awhile back when she found out she was having twins. I would do what she did, just tell them what you are there to see and that you feel very strongly that you want the minimum exposure necessary.

I remember that, which is, honestly, the only reason I didnt totally FREAK OUT when the MWs said I needed to go..... I need to thank her for that!

I just have this vision of them being totally insensitive and going on about how LARGE the baby is, and how I'll have to have a C-S. ugh.

Sorry to poke my nose in - saw this on new posts...

Make sure you drink plenty of water before hand, after not drinking all night while you were (hopefully!) sleeping, your amniotic fluid level can go down.

W/ds1 I had an us in the am & ended up having to have a second later that day as my amniotic fluid level was "dangerously low." My midwife suggested that I was probably just a bit dehydrated (and I was) so we redid the us in the pm & all was fine. I would have had a csection the next morning if she hadn't spoken up. That was of course prior to learning of the issues of us at all.
