Vacuum cleaners?

Do you have one you like? I finally broke my old one, so I get to go shopping.

What i want:
The budget is more Hoover than Dyson
bagless
upright
maybe a hepa filter
Something that won't die in 2 years

We have no pets, but we do have awful navy blue carpet that needs to be vacuumed about 6 times a day or it looks filthy. We will probably be changing to laminate flooring when some $$ starts coming in. I am working hard on convincing DH that we need a Roomba but he doesn't buy it. Darn.

Did you know you can get a refurbished Dyson for under $300 from Amazon.com? That's where I got mine and I'm really happy with it.

That would be great! Except I'm in Canada. Ah, i think I found one for $99 that has a washable filter, and no HEPA filter (so i don't have to replace the HEPA filter...)
I also found a carpet sweeper at a garage sale this morning, so I don't actually have to break out the big vacuum 6 times per day.

I bought the Hoover that is compared to the Dyson at Target for about half the cost. It has been well worth it and picks up really well. You do have to clean the bottom roller though regularly. Mine has all the things you listed plus attachments.

Hello Ladies,

Just bought a Hoover Saavy with the option to use it either with the bag or go bagless. I LOVE it. I have a dog with longer hair and a cat and I can't believe how well it picks up. I didn't know my carpet was that dirty! It reall does a great job. DH even vacums for me daily cuz it's so fun to use. Now you know that's unusual

I have had good luck with Hoover. This model got the best rating at www.goodhousekeeping.com Even beat the Dyson. HTH.
