Lesley,

I had severe HG with ds, and I'm keeping my fingers (& toes!) that we don't get a repeat this time around. Here's to healthy pregnancies!

I am taking the GNC prenatal. It is dairy, soy and gluten free (my nursing dd has food allergies) and I also take extra calcium in addition to the prenatal since I do not eat dairy.

I haven't started one yet and I know I should! Every single one I took with my last pregnancy made me sick, so I am hesitent to start something. I'm hoping to get in to my midwife next week, so I'm going to discuss it with her. In the meantime, I'm taking a folic acid pill and trying to eat well.

I take Citracal Prenatal Rx. It makes me queasy so I have to take it with juice... but I like it because it has a full mg of folic acid, and it has Iodine which many prenatals don't.

I take the Primacare One vitamins that my midwife gave me. They are just one a day and have added Omega-3 and DHAs. I have trouble swallowing pills so those giant prenatal vitamins just make my throat close up looking at them. They are horribly expensive (around $40 a month) and I'm going to use up all the samples the midwife gave me before buying more, but if I'm going to spend that kind of money I would rather it be an organic or veggie vitamin.

I would love to change to an organic/veggie prenatal, and am interested in the Perfect Prenatal people have mentioned...does it contain the appropriate Folic Acid level? I'm 95% veggie (started eating meat about a year ago after 14 years veggie, and just really don't like much of it), and am also looking for good sources of Omegas...I know flax seed is wonderful, but I've heard it gives you "bowel" problems.

Can anyone enlighten me about alfalfa in pregnancy? I'd like to know more about the benefits, how much to take, etc...

Thanks.
