I am on 4mg of Folic Acid a day. It is my understanding I will stay on this the entire pregnancy (whenever that happens). At first I thought it was 3-4 months prior to pregnancy and the entire 1st trimester, but now I think its entire pregnancy.

Bumping us up. I hope everyone had a good week. My new job is so busy, but I'm enjoying the work I'm doing and am working with some very bright and talented people. At least the days fly by! My cycles are so long now... it's weird, not being able to predict them like I used to just a year ago. I could pinpoint AF like clockwork. This one looks a little better than the last few, but no O yet. I wish more of you had links to your charts. I like to snoop and compare.

I've heard that if you take high doses of folate (folic acid), you need to also take a b-complex and extra B12 to balance it out. I don't remember where I read that though -- maybe here: http://www.westonaprice.org/basicnut...itaminb12.html

Thanks, Pookietooth. Last year I took so many supplements, but this year I ran out of stamina to take so many things. I'm currently on chinese herbs, although I rarely get the three doses in each day - more like one or two. Perhaps it's time to start popping lots of vitamins, antioxidants, etc again. I'll start with extra B's and folate and go from there. I welcome other suggestions, too.

WooHoo! You go, Fortunategrrl! Congratulations on the + pregnancy test! Yeah!!!!! I love hearing stories like yours. You give us all hope. I just turned 43, and am not particularly optimistic, but haven't completely given up yet. I wish you the best in this journey. May you have a perfect sticky bun and a healthy pregnancy.

Congratulations and thank you so much for leting us know! I'm 42 and haven't given up yet either. My big exciting news is that ff FINALLY gave me crosshairs for the first time since December.

I'm afraid I don't have any good news about my son, so it's probably best if I keep fairly quiet about the fact that I haven't given up yet since I am fairly well known by this username and my posts here would show up on a google search.

Juneau, thanks for your kind thoughts and wishes. I think of you often too.

Congratulations fortunategirl!!! Hooray for 43 and pregnant!! I'm 43 too, as of last November.

Hey spider thanks for checking in. I'm sorry you're still having such a hard time.

Emotionally, I'm having a difficult time right now because I conceived my son a year ago... But I am physically feeling OK and dd is much more helpful now than one year ago so we are starting out with lots of energy in the garden. She helps me water every day, sweet thing.

I've given up temping for now but am still doing OPKs. So I have a chart linked but not much info there.

Congrats Fortunategirl!

thanks for the excitement! i've been keeping this quiet. so it's nice to be able to celebrate a little bit, even though it's waaaaaaaaaayyy to early for me.

had my hcg levels tested friday and sunday because of ectopic concerns. went from 930 to 2100. i'm thinking good news? i'd like to just ignore everything and chill for a while to see if it sticks, but the md is fussing at me to do an ultrasound to really, really rule out an ectopic. about 2 years ago i only had one tube open, so apparently that's some sort of red flag. not to mention my age, which everyone seems to mention. wondering if anyone's had experience? i don't want an ultrasound if i don't have to. my understanding of the blood test was that if it doubled it was unlikely to be ectopic.

glad to be able to share with you all.

peace-moni

Good luck, Moni. I'm no expert (I'm just a ttc-er!!!), so I can't comment on the hcg levels or ectopic pregnancies.

Gals, I'm spotting on day 25, crampy today (day 26) but had no clear thermal shift. I am thankful that my cycle this month looks like it's going to be back to the old pattern of 25 or so days. I had a lot more "fertility" signs this month (CM, increased sex drive), so perhaps the reduction in stress is working its magic!

OT: The nasty tenant on the 2nd floor gave notice Sunday that he'll be out by April 30th. Yippee!! In the meantime, he's playing loud music at 10, 11, at night, sometimes later, and I'm having trouble sleeping. I've had to resort to wearing earplugs and playing my meditation CD much louder so that I can breathe, relax and fall asleep. Unbelievable!

Hope your lives are peaceful. I'd say individual hellos, but I've got to skidaddle to work. Namaste!

My betas:

On CD31, 112
On CD37, 1825

Your numbers look good to me. They never asked me to do an early US. But my history doesn't really call for it, either. I would do it simply for the peace of mind since it is in your history. I wouldn't do a whole lot else, though. Too much information can drive you insane.

Are there any dangers with an ultrasound? If so I would opt out. With my son they thought I had lime disease. (It was a spider bite and we didnt' even live in an area where it is possible) Anyway, the midwife had to consult with the doc and he wanted to do an US at 6 weeks. We asked, what will that show us and the midwife said, if there is a heartbeat. Well, I opted out. I figured if there was no heartbeat what could I do and I didn't want to sit around waiting to lose the baby. YK? So I just waited it out and all was fine. I know with an etopic it can be dangerous so you will have to add that into the mix on your decision. Does the doc have real reason to think it is an etopic? How far along are you?
