40+ and TTC SPRING on over!! - Page 59

I'm sure he'd love to make the trip, MsGB, especially during the summer when it's not so cold in your neck of the woods. You know I'd just eat it up.

I'm still in complete shock, even though I broke out the second digital at about 2 AM and sat there staring at the word "Pregnant". For those who don't already know, the downside of digitals is that you have no tangible material physical object after about a half hour or so. I need to run to the dollar store and get some double-line tests or dd is never going to believe me.

Her bf is here and he doesn't know that I've been TTC, so it just doesn't feel right to tell them at the same time. I'm only 11dpo and I so didn't expect the test to say anything so early. Also, my symptoms are not the same as they were 19 and 16 years ago; food is yummy and I'm a bundle of energy; my most reliable early pregnancy sign (long before HPTs could tell me in the 80s) was complete disgust atthe smell of coffee and cigarette smoke, both of which smell just fine to me as of yesterday.

I just honestly don't see how I'm going to tell the kiddos or anyone offline in clear English, because all that comes out of my brain is "OMFG! BFP!"

Spider, you can say that a million times to me. I love the sound of it!

I know you are still in shock but I wanted to extend a heart felt congratulations to you Spider. I am so happy for you!

Oh spider, I am so happy for you!!!!!!!! : :

I was away from e-mail for a few days and look what I missed! :

I regret that I am only 5 DPO or I'd be running for those pee sticks now, too!

OK, I'm testing tomorrow. I'll only be 9 DPO but I have a wonky tummy today that feels just like preggo nausea. I am nauseated except when eating, although it's hard to figure out what would taste good. It seems too early but at the same time, it would be so great to be in the same DDC as spider so I feel like maybe the stars are lined up right... : Either that, or I've got a tummy bug.

I counted the pee sticks in my cupboard -- three -- so I can keep testing if I get a BFN.

Good luck, Juneau. Keep us posted.

I did my first insem today since perhaps November 2006. My last few cycles have returned back to "normal" (aka pre-pre-menopausal!). This cycle was looking good, too - I had some EWCM and watery CM recently, and a pos. OPK this morning. Cervix seemed to have dropped lower by the time I did the insem, tho, so who knows? Kind of exciting, being back in the game.

Go, swimmers, go! :

: : : It would be so great to have both of you in my DDC, or even on the "Pregnant and over 40" thread I haven't started yet.

Juneau, I tested positive at 10dpo with a Long's Brand digital and then wasn't able to get to the Dollar Tree for the tests I usually use until the second line was darned near as dark as the first.

BFN today, no surprise at 9DPO. I will test again on Monday, FF's official test date, unless I have more symptoms before then (be they psychosomatic or otherwise...).

I never could see those super-early super-light lines, either on pictures of other people's tests or on my own in person. That didn't help me much with the compulsive testing, though. I didn't make it past 10dpo even this time.

Part of me just wouldn't believe the digitals until I had taken a Dollar Tree test, though.

We aren't pregnant because we test positive, we test positive because we are pregnant and not every pregnancy tests positive at the same time. I still have hope for this cycle, Juneau.

MsGB, your chart looks VERY good.

Oh yes, it's always good to remember that! I'm still very hopeful, too. But I don't think I'll test again until Monday (she says, already thinking of caving on Sat. or Sun.).

Hi everyone. I hope you don't mind if I pop into this thread to get a bit of advice.

I'll be 40 this January and have two wonderful kids. DD is almost 5 and DS is 2.5. I honestly thought I was done, done, done but now I'm contemplating having another. While the thought of going through the nightwaking and constant tending and all the rest that is involved in having babies is a bit daunting, I know it's only a couple of years of hard work and sleep deprivation and then I'll have 3 kids, lol.

I suppose my biggest issue is my age. Most moms I know are in their early to mid 30's. I was hoping to get some perspective from those of you who have obviously already decided to go ahead and TTC.

Do you have any concerns about being an "older mum"?
Do you worry that this pregnancy will be much harder on your body and health than previous ones?
How have you dealt with the fact that we're considered "high risk"? (or do midwives do that anymore?)
Are you worried about your kids having to care for you when they are relatively young?

I'd appreciate your thoughts. Thanks in advance...

Nope. I tried five years to get dd and didn't conceive until after 40 when I had officially given up. I am what I am. I do enjoy being around other older moms when I can find them, and definitely have a different perspective than some of the younger moms I know. But I don't notice it much, really, except when the younger ones talk blithely about the "next" child they'll have, and I don't know if I will ever have that opportunity.

Not having had any previous ones, I don't have any to compare! I've only been pregnant twice, both in my 40s. I'm still nursing and I think because of that I am much healthier than before I conceived dd.

I was high risk for reasons other than my age (large fibroids with my first pregnancy) but my new midwife says no one should automatically be classified "high risk" just due to age. If your dr/mw says you are "high risk" just because you're 40, find a new one.

See number one above. We are what we are and we'll deal with what comes. I am thrilled to have my dd and so grateful we are together for the time we are allotted together on this earth.

I will add one thing. I think that my age (and trouble ttc) has made me realize that my time with dd is so incredibly precious. I do not drop her at daycare and rush off to my career. I am just enjoying the time we have together. And that benefits both of us immensely. I also think I am much more relaxed about being a mom than I would have been had I conceived at a younger age. But that's me. You have two kiddos already so you know the drill.

Good luck making your decision and on your TTC journey, should you decide to embark on it!

12 DPO here. AF has not showed (yet), my temp is up, and I saved FMU. But I am chicken! I want to enjoy still being hopeful; I don't want to see a BFN and I think a BFP would scare the daylights out of me, even though it's what I've wanted for a year now (I lost my son a year ago this week).
Juneau,

I know it's scary, and either way, you'll be alright. It must be hard, thinking about the loss of your son while wondering if your pregnant now. We're here to support you, no matter the outcome this go round.
Thank you, Ms.GB! I did test yesterday, eventually -- BFN. But temp still up today and no sign of AF. My LP has been consistently 10-11 days for months, but 12 last month and so far 13 this time. I suspect that my cycle is just normalizing after nightweaning dd recently, but the BD timing this month was really good so it's driving me a little nuts!

Thanks for letting me obsess here; hardly anyone I know is left on The One Thread.

Juneau, I had a VERY faint BFP at 12 DPO. OB doc said it wasn't possible. I had a 29 on my Quantitative that same day. That + is a 2 year old now.

Thanks for the optimism, StoneFence. I sure hope I am pregnant, because I am a colossal raging B&*%$ right now. I'd hate to think that a longer LP means that I'd have to go through PMS this bad every month!

I'm not going to test again for a few days. It's possible that my O date was off since I wasn't temping due to travel, but my OPKs have been very reliable in the past few months. So we'll see what happens. Thanks for hanging in here with me.
