removing oil from towels???

I use almond oil as body oil. It has permeated my towels and I can't get it out. I wash in hot water often but cant seem to get it out. My towels are SOOOOOOOOO heavy. I have thought about buying lestoil, or using ammonia but would rather never use either of these products, especially on my towels!

Any tried and true methods for getting this out? The towels are still good, just heavy and oily, I would hate to throw them out or use them as rags.

I haven't had that problem, but here's what I'm thinking:

Add extra laundry soap for your towels in the washer to get rid of the oils (the detergent saponification action will carry away the oils). You can even try dishwashing soap or -- even some non-colored commercial shampoo, which is GREAT for carrying oils away.

Add some baking soda to boost the cleaning power.

I hope this helps!

I've used dawn for years and so has my mom and it works great. There are some people in this forum who are against using commercial products, but I think Dawn works fabulously. I just avoid the antibacterial kind nowadays because it has Triclosan, which is a pesticide/antifungal agent. I don't want bacterial resistance and regular Dawn works great.
