Removing Fluoride from Tap Water

I am slowly trying to detox our home a little at a time especially as ds will soon start to eat/drink and be mobile. I've been looking into ways to remove fluoride from our drinking water and it seems like the way to do this is to get some kind of reverse osmosis system. Am I right? Are there any other methods? Most RO systems I see out there cost a pretty penny plus I wouldn't be able to install it myself. What has been your experiences? Any advice on the system to go with? I will have saved about $300 to buy a system but I can save longer to get a better system. TIA.

There is a Kenmore system you can get at Sears--it costs about $250-$300 for the deluxe version and you can install it yourself--you have to drill a hole in your countertop but it looks easy. I got one a little while ago but haven't installed it yet. The only issue is that RO systems don't get rid of as much lead as other filters, but I guess you could just filter it again. (This is an issue for me in Boston b/c the tap water has too much lead in it.)

Check out Consumer Reports--they won't advocate to remove fluoride, but any RO system they rate will do the job. Some articles are available without a subscrption at www.consumerreports.com--otherwise you might have to go to the library.
