I am watching Dr. 90210 right now- I have never watched this show before.
And all of a sudden this pg woman is on the show- and I am like- what is she ding on there.
I flip to the info on my tv- it says_____ ponders what damage her unborn baby will do to her body.
Then she goes onto say that her husband and her have discussed the risks and benefits and while it is controversial- they are opting to do an elective c-section.
She is 2cm dialated and 100% effaced-
Dr says- ok- well if you go into labor before your due date we will just do it then
OMG. I am so sad...:

I used to watch this show off an on. : But I stopped after Dr. Li (the Chinese-American plastic surgeon) had an elective C-section! I've had a c-section for medical reasons and I cannot fathom why she would do it in lieu of giving birth naturally. To top it off she showed the circumsicion of her baby boy on the show as well. No more Dr. 90210 for me.

Too bad for her it's pregnancy not breastfeeding that causes sagging. Her poor baby....

Mind blowing....

Damage to your body? But somehow an ugly surgical scar is ok?

But they made the SMALLEST incision possible so it makes it okay!! :Puke

Was that the woman who was a dr.? I skimmed through it briefly and when the woman was talking about going back to work 2 weeks pp, I changed it quickly to avoid cursing at my TV.

This made me so mad too. She was also in that episode talking about wanting to return to work just 2 weeks after the birth. How dumb!

I also watched an episode after that one and she bottle fed the baby right from the get go. It showd her and her husband getting up at night witht the newborn to give him bottles, then it showd a Rabbi circumcising him on their kitchen conter! Dr. Li (the mom) was saying that even though she is not Jewish, her husband is and they decided to circ him just for "cleanliness reasons" I'M NOT KIDDING!

On another note I was flipping channels one night and on MTV there was some sort of reality show and some rock star wife was in a Right Start store buying all sorts of things for the baby they're expecting. She's buying EVERYTHING in sight, but when the clerk asks if she needs a breastpump she replies "mama dosen't breastfeed...at all". Then she goes home to her husband and complains that she still has "so much to do" and that she is "giving birth in like a week", but at the end it just shows them going to the hospital for an elective C-Section!:

What is up with these people??

OK vent over.

I'm glad didn't see those episodes that were mention in this thread. Haven't seen this show since TLC doesn't air it anymore and miss it in a way. Thank you.

I watch it. That woman is a doctor, she's one of the doctors the show follows, Dr. Li. Her husband is also a doctor. Eventually she goes into labor on her own and does go ahead with her c/s. She coos and loves on her little boy all the time and does indeed go back to work within a few weeks, toting baby to her new, unfinished office (as you can see, the episode that aired the other day was a re-run) (I haven't read replies, btw, so if someone mentioned this all already, sorry)

Namaste, Tara

Oh- well I am glad she brought the baby with her. it did not seem she had very real expectations about motherhood.
i reaaly do not undrstand elective c-section tho...
the baby weighed 5 lbs 11 oz. the talked about how skinny she(the mom) was while they were doing the operation.
sad.
