Stitch library?

I know there many stitches out there. I currently know knit, purl, and elongated.

Let's get to posting the different kinds and a link that explains/shows them!!! I went looking the other night for some and it was a bit rough. Maybe I just don't know what I'm looking for!

Maybe if we get enough we can make it a sticky. I'd love to be able to find what I'm looking for pretty easily and that seems like it might work. What do you think?

I'm not quite sure what you're asking for In knitting, there really are only two 8stitches* - knit and purl. All teh texture patterns are just combinations of those two. Is that what you're asking, for texture patterns and such? I'd suggest heading to the library and checking out any of the barbara walker treasuries, they are my favorite knitting books

hehehe yes I meant texture patterns. I think having a sticky or ongoing list would be helpful to newbies or those wanting to refresh their skills or need a reminder.

Dude, it's so weird you posted this because I was trying to find something online after checking out Sarah's blog. That linen stitch looks awesome. I want to learn that. I will check out the links.

eta: Whoa! The About site is awesome. I wish I could learn by reading, though. I need someone to show me. (I am from Missouri, after all.) Here's the Linen:

Row 1 (RS): K1, *slip 1 with yarn in front, k1; rep from *
Row 2: K1, p1, *slip 1 with yarn in back, p1; rep from *, end k1

What does slip 1 with yarn in front mean? You knit a switch and then just slip a stitch off when your yarn is in front of your work?

You slip (or move) a stitch to the other needle (without knitting it) while your yarn is in front of your work. --For "slip 1 with yarn in back"; you slip a stitch to the other needle while the yarn is in back of your work (without purling it).

Hope that helps.

Madre, I'm picturing you doing The Robot. (I know. It makes no sense. Just go with it.)

Rhannie, that totally makes sense. Thank you!
