Seven crowns for two year old?

They want to do this in the hospital in the OR, put her under, do seven crowns, fill five more teeth. She has an abcess and infection. Shes on antibiotics right now.

Dentists says the decay is into the roots and dd says it hurts, otherwise, dentist and I agree we'd leave it alone.

Im terrified to put her under, the dentist wont even do in office IV sedation at her age/size. Any other options? Crowns for nonpermanet teeth are pretty expensive, but what are the alternatives? Pulling them? Ow, and thats like half her teeth gone nearly.

Help! Suggestions/comments please!!

Both my daughters have had to have dental surgery that required general anesthesia. My oldest was almost 3 when she had hers and my younger daughter was about 2 1/2. It's terrifying isn't it?

I don't really have any suggestions other than don't worry! I know, easier said than done right? Both times I've had dental surgery done on my girls is has been super easy. I used two different pediatric dentists and they were both very nice. The teams they work with to get the job done are also nice and usually very good with kids. They try to make it as least traumatic as possible.

PM me if you have any specific questions! I'll be glad to help in any way I can.

This sucks. DD (16mo) is going in on Wednesday to have 4 teeth crowned under general anesthesia. We wouldn't do it, but she is in pain and I worry about speech development if we remove the teeth.

I feel your pain. Since the dentist won't do IV sedation in his office, can he book some time at the hospital to get it done? My ds is 34 months and he is scheduled for April 21st at a children's hospital to get some dental work done. He too needs a crown and several other dental caries filled. His pediatric dentist won't do this in his office either.
