Help Me with my Brother embroidery machine!

I just rec. my Brother SE 270 d embroidery machine and am already having problems! The needle keeps breaking. The machine jams up, and bends theneedle first. I think it may be hitting the shuttle but Iam not sure. My first two ''tests'' cameout fine, and this started OK, but jamed in the middle of it, now even reg. sewing on it breaks the needle. Please help! Any tips would be great! thank you

That must be frustrating for you, hope it gets fixed soon. I know there's at least one other mama on here with a 270D.......maybe she'll see this and be able to help.

just as an aside, where did you buy your machine? Was it new or reconditioned/used?

I have this machine, and had this problem when the shuttle wasn't installed properly. It seemed like it was latched in correctly, but apparently it wasn't, because I wiggled it around and then it really seated in.

Mine is also a bit picky about needles. If the needle isn't good and sharp, I can get jams. HTH...I know how frusttating it is not to be able to sew when you want to!

Hopefully that was it! It definitely was hitting the shuttle, there were 2 holes all the way through the plastic, and the tip of the last needle I broke was stuck in it! I have to wait to try it out again until later when I have a moment of peace. Thank you for your help.
