Kombucha?

Hey mama's! I am suffering from a bit of dairy burn out (yogurt, kefir, buttermilk) and want to make some Kombucha. Anyone out there doing that? Tips? Experiences? Interesting information?
Also, does anyone out there have some starter I can take a bit of?

Kombucha

I have enough kombucha starter to give to about 10 people if anyone is interested! All I ask is $8 for shipping & handling. Please email me if you want some!

I will trade a Kombucha (Scoby) for some big healthy kefir if anyone is interested. I love my Kombucha. It ferments in about 4-5 days just sittin' on the counter (out of direct sunlight). Then it taste like Apple Cider to me, but you can drink earlier or later depending on your taste. The longer it sits the more tart it gets and I'm not much into all that tartness. I boil two family sized tea bags, cool completely add sugar and then pour into a wide mouth jar, add more water depending on how much Kombucha I want to make then I cover the top with a paper towel and it is held in place by a rubberband. I don't move it or disturb it at least for the first 3-4 days. It's so kewl how another baby scoby grows on the top!

Edited to add that I have instructions for Kombucha I can email to anyone interested in a trade off. I will pay shipping the Kombucha to whomever, and that person pays the shipping of the Kefir to me. Should cost about the same for both. Just think of it as a swap~

Hi, Just PM me with your name and addy and I will do the same. My Kombucha is brewing and I can't disturb it. I just started it today, so it will be another 5 days before it will be ready. I will also need your email addy if you want me to send you the Kombucha instructions. I never keep more than one Scoby at a time unless someone ask for one, otherwise I use the new baby in the next batch, dry out my last one (the mother) and give it to the dogs as a chew toy...THEY LOVE IT! In the meantime I need to find a suitable package to ship it in. I will have to ship Priority just so it doesn't stay out floating around postal land somewhere for days before arriving to you.

Otherwise, anyone else interested after I get the Kefir, I can send you a Scoby for $1.00 if you want one and I just expect Paypal for shipping cost via Priority, hopefully it wouldn't be anymore than $3.85, but I could give a better estimate if I have a zip code.
