insomnia in 1st trimester?

hello! i've just found out i'm preg. w/#2 and i've been having terrrible insomnia the past few nights- i go to sleep fairly quickly but then i'm awake at 2/3 in am and can't go back to sleep- does anhyone know about this? i experienced it w/my daughter in the last tri.- also, i am pretty comnfident it is not psychological/emotional based- feels physical- any thoughts on this?

I just figured it was training for the middle-of-the-night wake-ups with an infant, but now in my second pregnancy it's not so funny. I share your struggle. My cycle just seems to be getting up very early needing something to eat, farting around a while, then ready to sleep again when everyone else is rising. I feel good after that second sleep, but unfortunately dh and ds can't always let me sleep in. I think if you can put yourself in a deep meditative state, without necessarily falling asleep, and stay in bed, you will get some of the benefit of sleep. But be sure and get something to eat if that's what you need. Maybe warm milk with honey would help?

Oh, sorry! I hate to tell you... I'm 23 weeks and have had this problem from the beginning too. Just like you, I hit the pillow and fall asleep RIGHT away, then anywhere from 1:30 to 3, I'm awake until about 5, then my dd wakes up about 5:20. So much for that! Frankly, I'm sick of it. I only had it in the third trimester last time as well. I've tried just about everything. I hope you fare better than I have. I don't fare well on the 3 to 5 hours a nignt I'm getting. I'm an 8-9 hour kinda gal.

If you find a solution, share it! Please! Until then, I offer no advice, only empathy.

here i am- third night in a row UP while all are sleeping- i suspect that calcium will help and perhaps some cham. tea- both of which i'm out of- i hope there is some sort of shift here- i did not have this with my daughter-
