I'm also relieved they got their baby back and I hope the med thing gets worked out!

I think the psych. obviously had a flashback to that woman who killed her 5 kids (I'm not good with names) during her depression. So, perhaps she viewed her patient to have potential issues that might lead her in that direction. I'm sure that's what the psych. would go for, anyway, in a lawsuit. It doesn't say the Washington mama was at a psychotic stage or anything, but I jsut think that's what the psych.'s angle was when she reported her.

It's so dumb how this country uses fear-mongering to control us. It's the greatest example of consistent bad parenting!

I wish the family good luck with the rest of their trials. Their lawyer really does need to get off his butt and ATTACK the ppl behind this travesty. Isn't this type of thing what the ACLU is for?

My god!

If she and her husband could run for the border, we have a spare room. The house is a pig sty cause I've got morning sickness, but we have a room they could flop into....

Yah, yah... it means they did something wrong if they fled, but... MY GOD!!!

I'm also wondering if someone could start a fund for a better lawyer/suing the pyschiatrist/CPS/their current lawyer. I'd be willing to donate.

Thank you SO MUCH for posting details. I will know to be careful in future counseling sessions. It's just UNBELIEVABLE.

EXACTLY!!! I know of at least one mom who needs to seek care but won't because of the couple of recent cases here.

These folks need a family law attorney based in WA, with experience dealing w CPS. Do they have one??

I pretty much want to echo what everyone else has said. This is outrageous! She should be allowed to BF. If anything is going to make a mom more depressed its going to be going through all this legal @%#% right after her baby's born.

Holy Mother, not to BF...I'm shocked but it's not surprizing how the system (the md's & CPS), evil and corrupt in all aspects are..They are the living devils at work...

I too, think we as mamas all should help raise holy ...What can we do to help????

Just wait to CPS to get on the family's about vax's... It sicken's me!!!

Briana, I'd love to know who it was they were going to (who turned them in), I'll black-list that name to the ends of eternity around these parts. What a total crock... but beyond that person's idiotic reasoning, the fact that CPS responded to his call is just as bad.

I'm still praying for this family (I'm going to be out of town when she comes to MAMAS but please let her know she has my support and prayers). I think we really need to get this into the media... have you heard anything re: that? I know one of my friends contacted a friend in the Spok. Review...

Ok, I just read the whole thread. I am wondering does this mama even have depression? Is she being forced to take these meds to get her baby back? Or was she on them before? And if she seems depressed or anxious right now could it be because CPS stole her baby and isn't allowing her to BF??? I am so flippin' angry.
We had a little boy here who was beat to death by his step-father. CPS was called many many times. They left that poor boy with this crazy guy until he was killed. HOw on Earth do they justify that stuff? Leaving a child to die with obvious abuse (multiple hospital visits for broken bones etc) and then take a child just because of a homebirth and eye infection?
It makes me weep.

This whole thing just makes me SO mad! I am heartbroken for this family. To not be able to breastfeed~ well I know how that feels b/c of medical reasons w/DS2 I can't imagine how I would feel not being able to BF b/c CPS said I couldn't. BTW, does anyone have a link to Hathor's new comic? TIA!

It won't hit the news. Or if it does, its going to negatively affect them.

After all, if CPS was called, you must have done something wrong. *snarl* It doesn't matter if they were in the wrong, the way the press always runs it, you, the parents, were in the wrong.

CPS USA is funded in such a way that the more children they adopt out, the better. So, from their point of view, it is in their best interests to justify their jobs by fabricating anything they can against the parents. Do Not Trust Them Ever! Canadian CPS operates in the same way. They too must justify their jobs.

Thankfully, at least in BC, they don't have the funding to really "help" families that don't really need their help. We should know. DP had a heart attack, I was 6 weeks postpartum and DS the warp boy were left without resources once my "adoptive" mother left. We had nothing even though family was there. FIL has a heart condition. Eldest BIL has a similar heart condition. Other BIL in wheelchair bound and 3000klicks away. SIL had her own family and her own medical problems and youngest BIL was 6 hrs away on a good day. Left to our own devices, we survived. I think it also helped to get rid of them sooner.

I too believe that she's forced to take meds. I chose to take meds with my family doctor and I discussing it because I was feeling anxious and not myself. When I told the social worker in question I had been on them but decided to stop because I didn't like how they made me (manic - you should see this afghan I crochetted and never finished) she flipped out and demanded that I go back on the meds. They had me labelled with a personality disorder that one of their councellor's coworkers who had never seen me and I was meerly a case discussed in a case conference decided I had. Their court order psychologist argued in their court case that I didn't have it, that in fact I was just "highly stressed" and had all my trust in both the system and friends destroyed. How right he is.

And its rare that one of "their" psychologist will testify for the "client" instead of for them.

Yeah, I lost ODD to them, but when I testified in court that I would rather loose her than have my biob*ch raise her, I was telling the truth. Her safety was more important that my having her. If I had gotten her back, I would have never been able to break from from biob*ch. So, in the end, I'll take the victory.

The parents in this case need a better lawyer, and they need to have the paper that they signed invalidated on the grounds that it was signed under duress.

I know of three other cases with the same end-game (not all homebirthers, but all non-abusive parents who ended up signing something)

It's going to keep happening, over and over again, the same story. It's going to keep happening until parents start standing up for their rights and refusing to be silenced.

I wrote a letter. I haven't sent it, because I don't want to make things worse the family. I'd also like to post it here on mdc for review first, but I'm not sure if I should put it in this thread or start a new one. Any thoughts?
