my dog ate sand

My dog ate a bunch of sand and now he has had diarrhea all over the house (and porch) several times. What should I do? My 13 mo old has eaten tons of sand but it just goes right through her, without causing any loose stool--

You can give him some pepto bismal as a quick relief.
How old is your dog though? In older dogs sand eating-especially if they've never done it before can be a sign of liver problems.

Hi Shannon, thanks for the info. My dad took some poop to the vet and he has roundworms. He is an older dog, so we'll keep an eye on him.
