ISO Large mouse-proof storage containers

Hi

Does anyone have any suggestions on large storage bins for things like flour and other grains, that are mouseproof?

We want to start buying flour in bulk (50lb bags), but we'd need somewhere to keep it. We do have a mouse problem so it needs to be something that'll keep the critters out.

We've looked at bins used for feed storage etc, but none of them are mouseproof.

Would storage totes work? Perhaps you could put the actual things in bins, like your flour etc, then put them in a heavy plastic tote (like ones used for storage) -- with the lids on tight I don't know how mice would get in there -- can they chew through that? I have no idea but I wouldn't think so...if so...damn, mice have some strong teeth lol

Good luck mama

I have a friend who uses metal garbage cans with tight-fitting lids for her horse's feed; they keep the mice out. I set our big bags of flour and rice into a Rubbermaid bin and have had no problems, but we don't have a LOT of mice.
