There are some great looking wahms out there. I got mine through a Frontier co-op over at the Trading Post. They had a 20% off of wholesale special going on GladRags, even the organic ones! I -love- mine. So wish I'd been using these since I was 13...

I second HagRag. They're affordable and very comfy.

I also liked shopping at Diaperware (from above post) because she has a great selection of WAHM made pads so you can try a few at once and save on shipping.

Great! Thanks for all the links.

I have a bunch from www.momandmepouch.com. I love them. She often has them instock at her hyenacart store and I *think* she is open for customs right now.

I wear panty liners every day so they have to be super comfy. So far my favorite panty liners are amazpadz (www.amazpadz.com). I have tried a few but most have the wings attached to the body of the pad, and then it wraps around your panties. I felt they were too bulky. I like the trimness of the amazpadz because the wings are sewn under the pad. Not sure if that made sense. It is basically like wearing a wingless pad, but it has wings I know what I mean... anyway, those are my favorite. I have some in suedecloth and flannel but like the suedecloth the best. I have had them for almost a year and they still look brand new and they don't stain .

Great! I just ordered some Ama'z. Does anyone know where I can get a pouch that has a divided sides for clean and used ones? They only had 2 choices on Ama'z and I didn't really like the fabrics. Thanks!

TLC makes nice pantiliners. The longer ones stay in place better.

Here are a bunch of links to cloth pad sites.

Enjoy!

Okay, I'm new to the mama cloth topic so pardon my ignorance.

So, do you guys have to buy like 10-20 of them to allow for frequent changing throughout the day and wash them for each day of your period?

I have a fibroid tumor and have heavy HEAVY bleeding the second REAL day of period (anemia included), would this work for somebody like me?

I'm wondering if the cloth would be more absorbant and forgiving to the second day where I experience flooding (you know, the massive WHOOOOOSH of blood you get if you have fibroids).

I'm tired of blood pooling down to the ground when that happens. I'm wondering if there is an alternative. I work, so I don't want anybody to see a puddle of blood on the floor. That actually happened one day at work, but they had concrete floors so I got a lot of paper towels and cleaned it up before anybody noticed. Oddly, it ran right down my leg and pooled on the floor

Sorry for the TMI, but I can't have surgery right just yet.

I am using pads from www.homemademama.com and they are great. I have some of the old style (which I like for night time) and some of the new. They are so trim, and you can pick your choice of fabrics. The quality is perfect! They are just great

I love hag rag!!! They have an insert called the tsunami - for heavy flow.

Spastica: I think using fleece or PUL as a waterproof barrier for your cloth pads would be great (if not a must) for your situation. Amaz's padz has a windpro lightwieght fleece as the waterproof barrier and I think this is the gem to her pads. I have never heard of anyone leaking while using her pads, of course there is a first time for everything.

Her pads are very reasonable priced if you wanted to try just one, and she sizes them generously. By the way, love love your advice on natural skin care.

I used to have to keep a second set of clothes in my locker at high school because of flooding. and i always wore long t-shirts in case. i love being able to decide how much coverage i need by adding or subtracting liners--being able to max out (just in case) for 3 days (crazy, irregular cycle) and knowing that i don't have to spend $10 even before my period starts is a relief. funny to think $ pushed me over to cloth, not the environment (ugh, i am ashamed.)

i noticed that diaperware.com also has a mama bags in a variety of colors. i also second the opinion that Sumaiyah had about the waterproof. i was talking to somebody at the store the other day who recommended Amaz as i was buying gladrags (which were 30% in the store that day)

Thanks Sumaiyah for your response and your compliment! I just get way too excited on this forum and nobody in my real world gets as excited as I do about baking soda and natural stuff as people do here...lol!

Yeah, I have to carry a spare pair of pants and undies and keep a pack of Always overnights/size 14/heavy flow pads with me in my car too.

OMG... that puddle of blood happened to me a few times at work. I have a few days of heavy flow with clotting and I tried Ama'z Padz because I read that she had a similar problem (heavy long flow with clots). I tried her pads back in August and have loved them. Working full time is hard, especially when there are 2 days when I feel like just staying in the bathroom I bought a wetbag from her and take my pads to work with me. No one knows I used cloth, except one women I was trying to convert, didn't work though. Anyway, the key is a water-resistant layer. I like Ama'z design because the water-resistant layer is bigger than the pad so I dont leak over it from moving too much. That always happended with other pads I tried. I would leak over the side and ruin my panties :

As for the amount of pads I think it depends on how often you plan on washing. My stash is ever increasing as I see new instock fabrics ... I have to stop checking! I usually wash mine every couple of days & change them frequently on my really heavy days, maybe every 2-3 hours. My last cycle was so bad I couldn't leave my house for my major clot day. I had clots about every 1/2 hour (thankfully it was on a weekend!) and would just keep running to the bathroom.

If you are wanting pantyliners, I recommend http://hyenacart.com/bambootique/

I ordered some of her pads and LOVE them. They are all beautiful and well made. It took a little while to get my order, but I have NO complaints at all about the workmanship.
