It is funny, in feng shui it is the opposite. You don't want the doors lined up because you don't want the energy to rush right through. Dh is really into feng shui but it doesn't resonate with me.

Maybe the Irish spirits and the Chinese spirits have some cultural differences!

Since people living in different parts of the world have some cultural differences it seems reasonable that different geology, climate, plant and animal life would also mean different sorts of nature spirits. That is if we are going to have nature spirits existing rather than just hanging out in the folk tales. On the folk tale level it isn't surprising that different cultures have differing ideas about how the "little folk" behave.
