Thread loops while sewing straight stitch

I'm having a problem while sewing some pocket dipes. I'm using a layer of polar fleece and a layer of micro fleece. When I sew through them both, the side that is facing the faceplate (as opposed to the needle) has loops in it. I fixed it enough last night by adjusting the tension that there were only 4 or 5 loops in the topstitching. It bothers me though, because I want my diapers to look nice. Is there anything I should be doing besides adjusting the tension to get a better straight stitch....

also, if it helps diagnose the problem, I hear a catching noise in the bobbin drop whenever it loops the stitch. :

I would suggest pulling out your thread and taken out the bobbin and rethreading everything from scratch and starting again. (if you haven't arleady).

When I end up with funky stitches, it's usually because my machine was threaded wrong somehow. Even though I can do it with my eyes closed. LOL.

Good luck.

The three things I would check would be tension, threading, and needle size or if the needle is too dull. Is it possible that the bobbin is in the casing backwards? 'Course if that were the case you would probably be seeing other issues.

I'll try completely re-threading it once I get home. I did it once, but didn't re-thread the bobbin, which could be my problem. I suspect I'm just having trouble finding the right tension because I'm not used to sewing on fleece. I'm sure I'll be back if I can't figure it out. Thanks for your help!

I was having that problem just last week, clunking noise and all. What I found it to be, was my bobbin tention, which I have never even messed with, it took me a little while to get it right on some scrap fabric, but my bobbin tention was too tight. then I also blew it out with a can of air, and now my stiches look great. I was so excited to finally figure it out.

Also, make sure the needle is not in backwards.

Well, I fixed it. I'm not sure which thing worked, but I completely untreaded the machine. I got a new bobbin and re-threaded it, put a new needle in, and re threaded the needle. It worked Thanks for your help ladies. I knew I could get help here
