Uh-oh! Breech at 36 1/2 weeks! Help!

Hello,

I am usually a lurker but today I need some help!

Today at our MW appt., baby was breech. She hasn't been before and MW thought she would probably turn back but suggested that we meet with a doctor about the possibity of a version.

I need some advice about how to get her to turn. I read mossemommy's post about breechand she mentioned chiro and acupunture. I need to look into those but I was hoping for some more ideas.

Thanks!

Try looking at http://www.spinningbabies.com

Doing hands and knees exercises will help keep the baby from settling into your pelvis in a breech position. Definitely get to the chiro ASAP. It really does help, I've been going every week since around 35 weeks because my kid keeps flipping. SO FAR, the head seems to have settled downward now! I believe the chiro definitely helped.

There are also some homeopathic remedies you can take... check out the midwife archives for more info:

Hope this helps!

My babe is transverse. I'm seeing my chiropractor for help. Unfortunately, we only have a few days ~ I'm 40 weeks on Tuesday and they scheduled the version for Monday. If I had more time I would definitely try an acupuncturist, too, but my chiro thinks doing too much all at once will confuse the baby. I'm tending to agree with her.

And, like KittyKat said, the spinningbabies website is very helpful.
I've been crawling around on hands and knees, too; my dd thinks it's hilarious. Me, not so much.

Fortunately, you have a fair amount of time to try all of those options. Good luck!

Thanks for the input. Luckily, time does seem to be on our side. I have been nervous because both DD and DS were on the early side (39 and 38 weeks) and I have been having strong contractions for a week.

Do all chiros know how to do the technique to turn breech babies? Or do you need to find one who does? How do you find one?

Jenais-good luck to you! I am sending good vibes and heads down vibes (I wanted to put a smilies in here but don't know where that one is!)

Thanks!

You need to ask for a chiro who is trained in the "Webster Technique" which adjusts the ligaments in your pelvis and lower back. It's amazingly gentle, the first time I had ti done it took all of two minutes and I was going "That's IT?!"

You can find a list of chiros trained in Webster at
http://www.icpa4kids.com/

Best wishes!
Kathryn
