Jolan Lorraine is here!!

Yay!! She was 5 days past her due date and she surpassed all the doctors' expectations regarding her health!! We're ecstatic!!

She was born Tuesday, 4/4/06, morning at 9:29 am after only 14 hours of labor (big improvement over the 28 hours with my first daughter). I planned a natural birth but at 6 cm, I had to get the epidural-I had reached my threashold of pain tolerance. I hoping to say the contractions were just pressure and I could handle them, but it was true pain for me. Jolan weighed 8 lbs. 13 oz and was 20.5 inches long. She has super chubby cheeks, lots of dark brown hair, and super long fingers and toes.

We're in Heaven right now. We had an extremely stressful pregnancy that ended in a quick labor, only 20 minutes of pushing, and most importantly--a healthy baby. We are in an odd, unblievable state of mind-mostly filled with gratitude, awe and tons of love. I'll post pics in the picture posting thread.

I am so, so happy for you. With everything you've been through in this pregnancy, and how strong you've been throughout, you deserve this happy ending. Congratulations!!!

Happy Birthday, Jolan!

...one more thing... Jolan and I (and my sis) share a birthday!

Thank you so much for your support and well wishes and congratulations!! I'm still in awe. I cry often when I feed her or hold her. I got a case of mastitis and that makes me cry too, but for different reasons.

We're really just so thrilled. We're waiting on one more test to come back. My husband has alpha-1 antitrypsin and I'm a carrier so Jolan has a 50% chance of having it also. I didn't know I was a carrier until we were already pregnant so I feel pretty guilty about that. I'll keep you posted on those results as well. It'll probably be another week or two until the results come in.
