yay! they have the kid ones! we did a co-op awhile back but the kid's were not out yet. i really like the larger ones we got if that helps.

I have been happy with mine! I bought them over a year ago. The only complaint I would have is that the large ones are a bit too large. It would be nice if they fit in a regular bottle/cup holder (such as on exercise equipment). Maybe the smaller ones do. We use our almost daily. They wash up easily. You have to be sure to keep the lid very tightly sealed (sometimes it only looks closed) or they do leak. They also seem so heavy that they would be a projectile hazard in a car accident -- which has given me pause for thought. I may replace them with the smaller ones. Love those lunchtop lunches boxes but I hate the plastic! I'e noticed some asian and indian groceries about town. I think I'll check them out this week and see if I can find stainless steel or bamboo lunch boxes. Does anyone else have any of those?

All 3 of us have kleen kanteens. We love 'em. Dd has a regular size one and we just fill it a little less than half full so it's not to heavy for her. We have the sports cap for her so she can drink out of it whenever she wants.
My only complaint is the sports cap on mine broke off when I dropped it on the driveway. Other than that I think they are awesome!

i got mine in the co-op too.... the 40oz ones, and theyre not too heavy... vert sturdy, im klutzy and drop mine all the time, lol... i love them :d

We have the 27oz size and they are great. We are way rough with ours; plastic ones do not survive my family largely because we drop them on gravel so often. Seems half the places we go, there's gravel...

Total bummer that the co-op boards are closed up. They are tough to get at those kinds of prices and we're BROKE.

ETA - the 40oz seem quite large, especially for kids...smaller kids can't easily hold them one-handed. They also don't fit in cupholders, like somebody else mentioned. The smaller ones do but are tall, so they overtip when the holders are shallow (like in my van). Also, neither size fits in the small cooler we like to take out, but since we got padded sleeves for them it doesn't really matter.

I have a 27 ounce one. I find to to be too small But I drink a lot of water. I like mine other than the size. My only complaint is that the nozzle "chirps" when I drink out of it. Very hard to stealthily drink some water in the middle of the night. Anyone know of a fix for that?

I hate the chirping Have you tried gently pulling on the tiny airvalve on the bottle cap? I do that and it seems to help, but don't pull too hard or it'll come out all the way.

i see this is a really old thread, but just had to post. we love our kleen kanteens! i have the 27oz, ds the next size down, and a few friends have toddlers using the new dinky ones with the sippy-cup lids. i have a sling for mine. it works wonderfully, but it's ugly to me, so i'll be sewing a sleeve to go over the whole dealio.
to the person looking for lunch kits not from plastic. you must get a stainless steel lunch box from www.reusablebags.com or greenfeet. com. they have two good-sized stacking bowls, with a plate in the middle and a lid for the top. a friend sewed a carrier for ds' kit which works well.
i love seeing so many people getting away from so much plastic.

My kids have the 18 ounce ones, and dh and I each have a 27 ounce one. I want a 40 ounce one for the summer, but they weren't selling that size when I bought mine. When DS4 first got his, the 18 ounce size was a little large. But as hot as it gets here in the summer, the kids really go through the water when we're out and about, so I'm glad he has the larger size.

First of all, we love them! We have had a couple of minor issues with them. One is that for some reason the kids' bottles sometimes bulge out a bit at the bottom. I don't know if it is something to do with putting cold ice water in it or what, but occasionally they get slightly rounded. Nothing that a couple of taps with a blunt hammer won't fix.

The other thing is my kids like ice water, but since these aren't insulated at all the bottle can be quite cold to hold onto. They have the sport lids and were able to carry them by the loop that forms with the thing that tethers the cap cover, but DS6 said that cut into his hand (I tried it and I tend to agree). I ended up knitting and felting covers for them. The kids love them and I've also learned that the covers help keep the drinks cool longer, so I'll be making some for DH and I as well. I love my Klean Kanteens. Everyone in the family has one.

The chirp effect does drive me a bit batty when I am trying to be quiet but I have found that pulling on the valve helps and sometimes if the moons are aligned correctly I can drink with no chirping at all.

oh those felted covers rock! i hadn't thought of doing it that way. i was going to use fabric with a thin layer of batting, then quilt it. i'll ahve to give both a try. for sure fabric with a long strap for outings that we do a lot of walking. what i like about my sling is that i can wear it across my chest, like a messenger bag. it doesn't feel heavy that way, and my hands are free. so ds will need one like that. but for regular outings, the felted for sure. i'd love to have the thick wool keep condensation from my bag. thanks loads for the pics.
i'm going to be trying out wraps for the stainless steel lunch kit. the bag we have is great for it, but i'd like something to keep it cool or warm. i have a pattern for a sleeve that goes around a french press. maybe something like that? dunno yet. if i ever figure it out i'll post pics.
