will sweet peas and sugar peas cross-pollinate?

Does anyone know if you can plant sweet peas (for flowers) and regular pod peas (for eating) near each other? I wonder if they'll cross pollinate, and I haven't been able to find much yet with internet searches. I'd like to try growing the flowers for the first time this year, so if anyone has any other tips about growing them in the Midwest, I'd be all ears.

Nope they cant.

They are not in the same species. In order to breed things must be in the same species (unless you are tweaking something and trying to do this).

SO grow them.

Ohh and the sweet peas seeds are poisonous.
