Type of thread?

I was unable to do a search...sorry if this has been covered.

Do I need a special type of thread for sewing cloth diaper covers and AIOs, or can I just use standard cotton thread?

If your outer layer is going to be waterproof then you should use a 100% polyester thread as cotton or cotton-wrapped polyester thread can wick the moisture to the outside. If you're doing a diaper that will require a cover, stitch the cover with poly thread but the diaper itself can be cotton or whatever else you have.

HTH!

I would personally recommend polyester thread either way mainly because diapers take a real beating and poly thread is more durable. I've used cotton thread before and had some thread breakage.

I just use poly cone thread for everything, just because I go through so much of it! I stand the cone of thread in a mug set behind my sewing machine, and it feeds off just fine from right there.
