Looking for a Midwife (DEM) in Southern IL

Hi!

Does anyone know just how hard a task it is to find a midwife in southern Illinois?!

I'm not planning on trying to concieve till next summer but would love to have some idea of what choices I have in finding a midwife near my area.

I've had 2 hospital births (completely natural, drug free) and hated the experiance of how sterile and hands on everything was.
In my last birth the nurse even layed a syringe of demerol on my bedside table "just in case" cause she couldn't believe I'd actually 'want' to go drug free:
Anyway...until recently I realized that I may have other options (thanks to your wonderful site! )

I truely would love to have a home birth this next time around but would love to have the added peace of mind of having a DEM in attendance.

Does any of you lovely ladies know of a midwife near my area (Centralia/Mt Vernon, IL) Even accross the river, St Louis, MO may work. Really anywhere within an hour or so of me

I do not actively know of anyone in the area but check with this organization as they may know of some practicing in "hiding".

Seems like the Midwives have to be registered to show up on those sights and the only ones that could be available to me are the "hidden" ones:

I have just joined IL Families for Midwifery so hopefully between there and here I can find one
