If you went into labor today... - Page 2

I'm ready.

Scratch that, I'll be ready when MIL gets here on the 4th! Then I can handle anything!

I'm ready! Except I do need to pick up a few things for the birth kit like povidone but if I don't get it, no biggie I don't think.

OMG, me too! We're building an addition onto the house (a 3rd bedroom/2nd bathroom) and our old bathroom only has a bathtub so I'm stuck sitting in the bathtub with a hand-held shower sprayer. Ugh! My dad and dh have been scrambling to get the new shower ready in the new bathroom, even though the tile floor won't be laid and plumbing hasn't been run to the sink or toilet, at least I could take a real shower! I think they just need to install the glass walls/door so hopefully they will finish that this weekend. : If not, I'll probably drive to my mom's house to take a shower, I just don't like the idea of sitting in the bath while I'm bleeding... but driving somewhere else to get a shower would be a PAIN.

i waffle... i definitley have some more logistical things to get done- like sort through and wash baby clothes, sew some flannel wipes, get addresses for birth announcements imported into Word... stuff like that. But honestly, if the baby came today, i'd just scoop up on one of the onesies dd's been playing with and toss it in the wash and send dh into the basement to dig up some hats and little pants.

Dh is working hard to finish our new front stairs so he can move onto dd's closet- then we can get her things out of the changing table/dresser and baby's things in.

I'm totally emotionally and mentally ready- even if the house doesn't reflect it! We have our home visit this wednesday, mw's will bring the tub and our birthkit is more or less ready to go so...

bring it on! i say...

Ok, not to get way OT, but what state are you in? How much is the addition costing you?

I'm asking b/c we are considering doing more or less the same thing (except adding a 2 story addition, one room on bottom, one bath and bed on top of that). Feel free to PM me, I know those are kind of personal questions

I am ready as far as house goes, and having all the baby stuff I need - but mentally I am struggling as to how I am going to manage my VERY high needs DD - who has resorted to being extrmemly high needs these past few weeks - clingy, I cannot have 1 second to myself, has to constantly have my attention - and caring for a newborn at the same time. Part of me is downright terrified that I am going to lose. my. mind. Hopefully she will snap out of whatever phase this is that she's in. I am wondering if she senses the baby coming and that it means change. Probably. But her constant needs are forcing mine to be ignored - again. And that's the part that's ticking my off. I just want a LITTLE time to myself before this little guy comes. *sigh*

PM'ing ya just being I'm long-winded and likely to derail the thread. :

Well besides the fact that I still have to buy stuff for the baby, I would say that I'm TOTALLY ready!!! I can't WAIT to have this baby!!!! (or babies )

Well....I knocked one thing off my get ready for baby list. We found the hosptial today!

Seriously....I am giving birth at a hospital almost an hour from my house and we had never even seen it, let alone been inside it....which was totally stressing me out.

So today after my MW apt. we took a ride over and had a tour. Phew. One less thing to worry about.

Now we just need to pack a bag...finishing cleaning the house...get cooking and freezing...decide on a girl's name...work out logistics of who will do what depending on when I go into labor...get the carseat installed...

I would be mighty unhappy if the baby showed up today, b/c I'm 34 and a half weeks and I'm looking forward to my homebirth! (My MW is not comfortable with homebirth before 37 weeks... I could fudge my dates a week or so and get her to OK a 36 week homebirth, but a 34.5 week homebirth, probably not. Plus, baby might need NICU and I don't know that I'd want to take the risk.) And, and this would be the biggest thing for me -- my aquadoula doesn't get delivered until week 37, so uh-uh, baby, you'd better stay in there until mommy can use the tub!

In terms of stuff -- I've got my boobs and some cloth diapers and t-shirts/ onsies/ receiving blankets (unwashed by me, but that's easy enough for DH to do while I'm baby-blissing after the birth).

No car seat yet (expecting to get it as a gift later this month), but again, if we had an early birth I could send someone out to get it, I'm sure.

I haven't ordered my birth kit yet, and there's a lot of stuff I'm "supposed to buy" but haven't... but some of it, I may never buy cause I don't see the point. I don't think it matters very much...

Pretty much I think all of the material stuff we could fudge/ work around/ go get immediately.

And I am starting to get uncomfortable enough that I'd LOVE to meet the baby sooner or later... just, you know, after the aquadoula arrives

ehh---the house is tolerably clean....
If I go into labor, a load of clothes and dipes go in the wash asap....

and the rest just happens....

Although I think I need Maybaby to hang out for 2 more weeks so I can have my homebirth. Although....they'd have to drag me to the hospital at this point

Things I would worry about? I work from home...haven't scheduled time off for the baby at this point. If I went into labor now, I dont' even want to think how fast work would go to pot....

The baby's room is ready. So very, very ready. Bassinette there to be wheeled into our room, dresser is full of diapers and clothes... Heck, I even assembled the crib for when she's a bit bigger.

The car seat is installed (hey, i needed to store it somewhere, right?) and I have a hospital bag in the trunk of the car, which I cleaned out and vacuumed on the weekend.

But... the rest of my house is a disaster. We have exactly 1 piece of living room furniture and the rest will be here next week. That one piece is a futon I can't even sit on for fear of never standing up again. I was going to sweep my kitchen floor today, but I can't find the broom. I have about 9 loads of laundry to wash, and for whatever reason, the dishwasher is leaking. Wheeeee!

Pretty much ready here, whew! A week and a half or so ago I was freaking out. There's some things that coud be done but if babe decided "OK mama, I'm a coming," I could deal with not having gotten to those things.

Hmm, maybe I should do that too. I'll have dh dig it out of the closet for me... that way I don't have to mess with it after the baby comes. I'm using my spare FPSE for this baby...

I would be so screwed. I'm thousands of miles away from home with my flight home tomorrow morning. When I return, I have to wash a bunch of stuff, get a few more diaper covers, and sort through all the baby gifts I got from my students on my last day of teaching for the year last Thursday.

I know there's lots of other things I need to do, but I'm so disconnected from real life right now as I sit in my hotel room in San Francisco wondering if the rain will slow down enough to venture outside. I figure I'll have enough time to get the last things ready when I get home!

Id be happy! LOL... I am so ready for this baby... Ive come to terms with the fact that my house will not be ready for this baby in the next year much less the next few weeks LOL... and Im just so tired of being pregnant LOL
post #36 of 37
I am so not ready either. I kept putting off getting thebaby things thinking "Oh I still have time before I really need it." and now I have only 3-6 more weeks and I feel overly rushed. I have about 20 more things to get still and am still trying to make sure I have everything listed.

I'm trying to get things as I go but I feel like I am running out of time now, LOL. I still can't find my NB stash of baby diapers either and I am getting really frustrated with that!!!

I'm with you dharmama. Last time I worked full time until 4 days before ds was born. He was 3 days early and I cannot tell you what a sinking feeling it was to realize that I was birthing with a messy apt. and an empty fridge. We had the baby stuff organized but I'd love to me much more organized this time around.
