So when are you all going to the OB? - Page 2

Ok, good to know. I hope all your appts go well!
I should clarify that my appt is with a MW at the OB's office. I think I'd like to stay with her the whole time. I work L&D and of all the OBs I work with, this group seems to be the best. And I've always been a MW fan (being a nurse makes me a bit biased!). But these MWs are more like the Med Wives you guys talk about. Not as extreme as the OBs can be, but you know. And they all seem less extreme than the ones I worked with previously at a large teaching hospital. I always told myself if I got pregnant while working there I'd go to the nearby birthing center.
I'm definitely going the hospital route for delivery though, at least for the first one. I have never been through labor and although I've seen it many times, I still can't know how it will feel exactly or how I will handle it. I'd like to have the option of medication, you know? My plan is to labor as long as I can at home, check my cervix and when I'm at least 5-6 head that way. Maybe longer if I'm not progressing quickly. That way I won't have to be strapped to a bed for 2 days. Hopefully anyway.

My midwife sees me as soon as I call to say I had a positive HPT. With DS#1 that was at 8 weeks and with DS#2 it was around 9 weeks - I know, pretty far along to get my first positive HPT. This time I have to go for an early ultrasound (for my own peace of mind) because DS#2 started out as a twin and I lost his twin at 12 weeks, so I want to know if this is a twin pregnancy also. Not to mention that I have no idea when I got pregnant so I have no idea how far along I am...we're guessing about 7 weeks.

My family and I met with my midwife yesterday. She came to our house and spent an hour and a half with us (free of charge I might add). I didn't want her to leave, she is absolutely wonderful!! What a huge difference from last time with an OB. I felt like a cherished woman rather than a patient with a medical condition. And all of dh's questions and worries were soothed so he's 100% with me now. I'm so excited for this journey. I recommend it to every mama who is undecided.
