I'm at my wits end

Its been over a month now that Tori has been eating every hour on the hour (except at night). She's hardly ever happy anymore and cries almost all day long. I've done everything in my power to meet her needs and I know that she's teething, but what can I do about it? It is driving me up the wall. I feel terrible, she's upstairs crying right now and even though I want to go comfort her I know its not going to make a difference...

What can I possibly do?!?!

That seems awfully long and intense for teething. Have you checked other things like reflux or a sensitivity to something in your diet? Weight gain ok?

She does have reflux and is being treated with Zantac. She hasn't had an episode for quite some time now and her reflux cries are completely different than these cries. Anyone who's finger she decides to chew on can feel the teeth coming in. Her gums are so hard its ridiculous. Her weight gain is awesome! She weighs almost 13 or 14 pounds by now. I'm on that diet that is recommended for breastfeeding mothers with reflux babies... Very bland, no dairy and all that stuff...

I swear swear swear by the homeopathic teething preparations. They can sometimes provide instantaeous relief. Both Boiron and Hylands are good. One, i think it is the Boiron, comes in little plastic tubes - the medicine is already dissolved in water so you just squeeze it into the baby's mouth. There is also a Chamomile Oil that I have not tried yet. I've heard from more than one grandmother about rubbing the gums with whiskey, but I have not tried that myself.

Hugs to you. It is just the worst thing ever to hear your baby cry like that.

So I guess I'm retarded or something.... Her inconsolable crying WASN"T because of her teeth... She has an ear infection... Go figure... Stupid me

you are not stupid. you are a mom. apparently you took her to the dr. or something...thats b/c you knew something was wrong.
dont beat yourself up too much mama.

No, it is not stupid you. Young babies can present with such different symptoms, it can be easy to miss. When you have a fussy baby, it can be easy to think the baby is just fussy, surley tomorrow will be better. I hope you see some improvement soon.

oh jeez...if that makes you stupid, i'm friggin comatose with the stuff i've missed. LOL i'm glad you figured out what it is!!!

So glad you know what it is now. My first cried all the time for almost a year. I know how frustrating it can get. But we never figured out anything wrong with him. He's still spirited 4 years later. Hope her little ears feel better soon!

xkoliex, give yourself a hug (and a break )! You're not stupid. When you couldn't figure it out you sought support/help here and you did figure it out. Just wanted to thank you for posting. I find that the more I read about what other's babies are doing (ie happy/crying/teething/milestones) and how mamas are dealing with these issues the more info I have to file away in my back pocket for when I need it!

Thanks and hope your little one feels better soon!
