Help! Anyone have a Singer Quantum Futura? I have one and it's making me mad... I have been trying desperately to embroider and it keeps saying the thread is broken even when it's not... and occasionally the thread will break and then it keeps going... me & DH have been looking at it and it's got us both baffled. The sewing store we got it at is a repair center and basically said there's nothing wrong. I called Singer and they said it's likely a user error. HELP! Any FB here? Any suggestions to fix? It's new.

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

Oh I'm glad you posted this... I was thinking about getting one...
I love it in theory. I've had it just a couple mos & it's been in the shop twice. I was hoping it was just me but DH was getting even more frustrated than me.

Bleh. I asked the lady in WalMart about it and she said she sold 2, and both ladies love it. But ... ah who knows.
Glad I came across this. Looks like I won't be getting an embroidery machine in the near future like I thought then.

They sell it in Walmart? That's very surprising.

I have one!!
What kind of thread are you using in your bobbin? I used a heavy thread once and it freaked out. I only embroidered a few times with it and when I first got it I used regular sewing thread (because that's what I had and I wanted to play with it NOW). I bought a heavy embroidery thread and it freaked, so I went back to using regular thread and haven't had any problems. But like I said, I don't embroider an aweful lot.
Also, every now and then it beeps at me and stops sewing. I get 7 stitches in and it beeps & stops. Weird. I just take the bobbin completely out and put it back in and it's fine.
I have to say I really love mine. DH got it for me for xmas. He told one of his friends at work what he was getting me and the guy ended up getting his wife one too.
She loves hers too.

I called Singer again and they said basically it's user error, ie my fault. Made me feel crappy. Also, the repair center is telling me stuff like oh your toddler must have messed w/it or you have to be doing something wrong... it breaks for them too so I don't know what the deal is. I just wonder at what point will the do something more to replace a part or fix.

Same basic trouble shooting:
if the needle is breaking all the time, the thread is too heavy or the needle is too light for the fabric. Since you are having "thread problems" have you tried a basic Gutterman thread, not embroidery? This is a good quality thread.
If you have had it repaired repeatedly, go to the repair shop and make them sit down with you to make sure you are doing everything the way they are. I say this, because if they are sending it back "fixed," you need to know what they are doing.

Online Help Group
There's a Yahoo Group for Futura Owners -- I've heard that there's not a lot of chat, just help:http://groups.yahoo.com/group/QuantumFuturaHelpingHand
There's another more chatty group at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FuturaEmbroidery
Sorry to hear you're having so many troubles -- I'm going to join these groups to learn more about the Quantum Futura before buying one. They have such great things going for them (large hoop area for the price, software to connect to PC and edit/create your own graphics included) that I want to take a second look, even though an Innov-is is my 'dream machine'.

That's so weird. Try regular sewing thread and see if it still acts whacky. I only use regular sewing thread now. Is it only when you embroider? Can you do regular sewing with it or does it still jam? Gosh, that really sucks!
