Question about Kefir smoothie

I have a bottle of Lifeway Kefir cultured milk smoothie that I opened about 10 days ago. Is it still good? The date on the bottle is June, but I'm not sure if that's for an opened bottle too.

Thanks for any help, my DS saw it in the fridge and really wants some!

I would imagine it'd be good - does it still smell "kefir-like"? If you pour a glass, do you see any evidence of nasties growing? I've kept kefir (albeit homemade) in the fridge for quite a while ... it's never gone back that I can think of (it does separate and I have to shake it all back up again). I would do a smell and sight test, and if it passes those two, do a quick/little taste test ... HTH

Thanks! Nope, no nasties! My DS drank a good size glass of it and said it was good, so I'm hoping it was. I made DH taste it ("Here honey, tell me if this tastes bad") because I can't have dairy and he said it was fine too. I'd like to taste it, but it will have to wait.

One of these days I'd like to make my own, I"m sure it's a lot better.

I'm glad to hear! And I'm always giving my dh stuff to smell or taste! I can't stand the thought of tasting something that might be bad ... he's like Mikey and will eat anything.

Homemade kefir is really good - though tart. Dh can drink it straight. My boys and I need it in smoothies (really yummy with strawberries, banana, and raw honey!).
