Cloth diapers, anyone?

I had planned on using cloth from the very beginning with Bella, but she was way too little and they rubbed on her belly button. Now that her belly button is normal and clean, I've been putting the newborn-sized covers on her and... they're way too big. As in, I can't even begin to get them snug enough around her skinny little legs! If she's going straight to sleep and going to be on her back, I can finesse it, but if I'm going to have her in the sling the peepees and poopies just come right out of the leg holes. Anyone know how I can accomodate super skinny legs?!

What type of cover/ diaper are you using?

I had great success with NB size proraps (very inexpensive & leak resistant) and an onfant sized prefold (the ones with the green stitching. The "angel fold" held in place with a snappi was sufficent to hold most of our leaks in.

That said this time around I splurged of some used kissaluv's size 0. They are fitted & the two I used with dd1 worked fabulous! They are a bit pricey, but like I said, I loved 'em.

I would definately cruise around the diapering forum.. There are lots of great how to links over there.

XS Bumkins covers are some of the best for fitting skinny legged little ones.

You might try preemie LiteWraps, they are small, and have a good wide swath of velcro on the front that makes them a touch more adjustable.

And lastly, maybe invest (if you can) in some preemie Fuzzi Bunz, just stuff them with prefolds.

Those are my three suggestions. I hope something works. What are you using now for covers? Any fitteds, or just prefolds?

The Kissaluvs size 0 are working really well for us too. We end up using a whisper wrap or something similar most of the time but it's the dipe itself that's really containing the mess.

the NB proraps are the only ones that worked for us... we had the same problem

ITA with the previous posters

Kissaluv size 0's and nb prowraps were the only dipes that fit dd for the first few weeks. Also the size 0's fit to about 15lbs so they'll work for you for awhile and you can just throw a doubler in them for more absobancy when the baby gets bigger.

LMK if you are wanting some Kissaluv 0's. Dh didn't like them (he only likes AIOs and pockets) so I have like 14 that have been used once or not at all. I'm fixing to post them on TP.

Also, when I diaper Luke I use a prefold with a Snappi, angel folded and a wool soaker. I haven't even had to clean the soaker yet because I haven't had any poo leaks. And he has really runny bf poo. Otherwise we use LHC AIO's and haven't had any leaks there either.

I ordered some Bummi originals and preemie prefolds to put on Meade, and they work perfectly! We just do a trifold with the prefolds and lay them in the cover. I got them here: http://www.greenmountaindiapers.com/petite.htm

and they literally arrived the next day. Couldn't believe it. Also have to second the opinion about Kissaluvs size 0 -- they work great for his tiny heiny!! Unfortunately, I only have one of them right now -- two more on the way, though.

Well, mostly I'm using nb proraps & proraps colors (which run a bit smaller) with infant prefolds (green stitching). I have one Bummi's SWW, nb size, and a couple of x-small fuzzi bunz... but they're even biggere in the legs.

or maybe bella's legs are teensy.

I woudl check out Bumkins covers... They are a good fit on babies with skinny legs. We had a 5 pounder in the store the other day and they fit him great around the legs. He was soo tiny.

That's a pretty common issue with NBs. You just need to find diapers and covers that have tighter leg elastic -- that's something I have been really concious with when designing and sewing my NB diapers for my website www.cloththoughts.com

The gal I work for also suggested Preemie LiteWraps - which are pretty dang affordable too. She said they worked for babies too small for the Bumkins.

That's so interesting... I had some Litewraps with BeanBean, but they ran *so* big that I never even looked at them for BooBah; as in, the smalls fit BeanBean when he was about 16 pounds, maybe heavier. : Where can I find those?
