Gosh, thank goodness for my doctor's scale or I never would have known my baby was growing and getting milk. All those wet diapers and clothes he outgrew never would have told me anything.

Maybe he was just pretending to swallow, babies can be manipulative you know.

After the first week of life, you should see 6-8 wet diapers each day and at least 3 bowel movements a day. His urine should be clear and he should become more alert with each passing day. Your baby should also be gaining weight and growing, as this is the surest way to tell that they are getting enough nutrition. If you have two days in a row that deviates from the above indicators, then you should call your pediatrician immediately.
Our family Dr would have "fired" me if I had done that. My dd was one of those once every 2 week poopers.

Circumcision: Many doctors agree that there may be some benefit to circumcision, but it may not be absolutely necessary. Yeah I suppose if I cut off my breasts, it "eliminates just about any chance" of me getting breast cancer
(my mom had breast cancer, hence that particular reference)

I agree it may be morse useful to point her towards more accurate advice.

I do understand your point. But when I posted this, I had no idea of her skin color, and knowing it now does not change my opinion- bad advice is bad advice. it won't help WOC to bf if they're receiving incorrect and harmful parenting advice. she is *sort of* advocating bf but not really, not with all the caveats she seems to think apply to a successful bf relationship. people of all colors, races and religions need correct and useful advice about this, THAT is what will help them, not this crap.
