Sanitizing toothbrushes?

Dos anyone here sanitize your toothbrushes? I've read they are really germy, and ought to be sanitized occasionally.

I thought I'd boil them- um, yeah, didn't work for me. The first time I turned on the wrong burner (which had a hot pad on it) and the hot pad went up in flames.
This time, I turned the right burner on, but forgot about it, and the water evaporated out, so our toothbrushes melted!!!
I'd rather have germy toothbrushes!

I'm pretty sure dp is gonna ban me from using the stove from now on! lol

What about using peroxide or mouthwash? Good? Bad?

So do any of you have a toothbrush sanitizer? Are they a waste of money? opinions?

Pouring rubbing alcohol over them kills the germs. I wait until the alcohol dries off (usually overnight), then rinse them really well, just in case.

I sometimes run ours in the dishwasher on the sanitize cycle ( extra hot wash and rinse)

We have several kid's toothbrushes. I have a boy and a girl, so they are easy to tell apart. I just put them in the dishwasher after every use. I figure if it works for dishes, it works for toothbrushes! Keeps the "toothpaste buildup" stuff from happening between the bristles too.

I've heard of storing them in hydrogen peroxide

I do the rubbing alcohol thing, too, after every use.

It evaporates quickl, so.....

Between the bacteria in our mouths and the whole "what happens when you flush the toilet, even when the lid is down," thing, I just feel better that way!

I soak them in hydrogen peroxide occasionally. This is relatively harmless if it ends up in somebody's mouth before it's completely dry- I don't want to put rubbing alcohol on something we put in our mouths!
