What should I expect?

Hi. I am so worried - I am afraid my 21 month old ds has a cavity on his back molar. We are going to the dentist on Monday. What should I expect? Any advise for me? I am terrified - the thought of x-rays, anestesia, drilling, mercury fillings, etc.... are keeping me up at night.

Of course I'm afraid it was the night nursing that "caused" it - I don't know, we have latetly been brushing every night but previously it was a little hit or miss....

I have no advice, but wanted to say I am in the exact same shoes. I am worried about some of my 22 month old dds teeth, including the top 4, and we also are going to the dentist for the first time on Monday. I have been ill over the thoughts of what they might say needs to be done. We have been good about brushing and regulating juice and sugar, but she has been a big night nurser since birth. I am worried what they are going to say about that, too.

how did it go for you? my ds has 2 cavities in his little molars.
the dentist I saw dosn't even work on little ones unless they are completely under sedation in the hospital! sounds so dangerous!
his partner will do it - put those little "stainless steel" caps on my babys teeth - using nitrous oxide gas while we "hold him down" for 40 minutes.

oh man - it is so sad - my heart is so heavy with this and when his dad and I were discussing it he was signing and saying I'm sorry - that broke me more I was like honey you don't have anything to be sorry for!!

The dentist thought his teeth didn't mineralize properly because of a high fever when the teeth were forming? at least he didn't blame bfing, but maybe if I had used tylenol to bring a fever down....? oh well, i don't want to blame myself for everything that goes wrong!
