I've nursed at my local Salvation Army thrift shop without any problems. Sometimes it's just the area you're in and the employees in that area. Still stores should have policies and they should make sure their employees understand them. It sucks when you get treated like that.

Hate to break it, but Salvation Army is not exactly the epitome of open-mindedness as an organization. Their anti-gay positions are fairly strongly stated. I don't give them any money or shop at their stores.

However, they could have let you breastfeed because at least you weren't (shudders!) GAY in their store.
