Prodromal Labor Land Commiseration thread... who's with me? - Page 3

I think I'll join you ladies, today I've had MAJOR nausea all day long, loose stools, and lot's of lower back cramps. I'm miserable. And then I had to go to a wedding and sit there while everyone else got to drink.: And then DH wanted to stay, which is fine, kind of, and I got all emotional because I've felt so miserable today. Ugh....

Those are all good signs, though, as far as it goes. So you're getting closer! I'm sorry you're miserable! I have the looser stools too and I can really feel today's ctx in my cervix. It is no fun, but at the same time it means the countdown is on!

I am not having this kind of labor, just contrax now and then. I really feel for you ladies and wanted to give you all a hug! I hope you all get some relief in whatever way is best for you and baby soon!

Thanks! It is not so bad though - I think of labor as being a marathon that we are all going to run. The tricky part is that you don't know when - it could be tomorrow at 3 a.m. It could be next week Friday at noon. The only thing is that once it starts, you don't get to stop until you finish.

These contractions are a little like I am getting to start walking the course a little in advance. I am tired, but I am cutting down the amount of work I have to do later.

It's weird how different labor is for everyone. For both my mom and my maternal grandma, it would take FOREVER for them to dilate to a 5. Then, they'd go from 5 to 10 in under an hour, literally. (This resulted in some unassisted births, because medical staff tend to think that when you're at 5 cm, you still have a long time to go..)
I was expecting it to be the same for me...nope, I was at 4 cm last time, 2 weeks prior to the birth. Getting from 4 to 10 took me 14 hours.

That is the other thing about this marathon - you don't know what course you are running, and they're all very different.

Yeah, Emily's right. I totally don't know what to expect. The prodromal labor isn't the same as last time, more intermittent- but then again, I'm only 37w4d. Oddly enough, since my horrible night last Sunday night it almost seems like most of my ctx have been during the day and just as I'm going to bed.

Yeah, that was what I was thinking, too

And Emily, I love your metaphor! That's exactly how I'm thinking about it...

Yeah Emily. I thought the equating labor and birth to a marathon fit absolutely perfectly in my mind!

I was having cx from 9pm until 4 am this morning. They were pretty regular too-real cx not braxton hicks. They were so much worse when I would lay down too-I thought maybe it was the real deal but by 4 they had started to wind down. They never got past feeling like early labor though so maybe I am at least a little closer. I am so tired now though. I would sleep on and off only to be woke up again when a strong one would hit-it was killing my back. All dh said about it was that it really wasn't a good time-I needed to wait until next week. Silly man!

Those sound so similar to the ones I had from Friday night to Saturday night! But my DH got really nervous when he figured out I was having contractions. He also wants the baby to wait at least another week!

LOL - what's with all the DH's wanting to wait another week???

I am ready NOW. LOL.

My symptoms - loose stools and lots of STRONG ctx. I am dying for my MW to examine me this week - we opted out of it last week but I am hoping that there has been *some* progress!

Sounds like there's several of us gearing up. I was quite crampy last night but no go... which is probably good because our sewer is draining, albeit really slowly and we can't use much water right now.
Emily, I loved your post! So very spot on!

I'm having all these same things at 38w3d...lots of painful BH (I'm calling them BH because they don't get regular, so I'm assuming they're not real lol) plus lots of crampiness this morning along with the loose bowels stuff. And lots of ewcm; I'm drowning in the stuff

But I really and truly don't think she'll come before late next week at the earliest. Just a feeling.

Plus, we all have head colds right now, so holding off until the house is virus free would be a good thing

Well, in my case, my DH wants baby to wait til at least week 37 (this thrusday -- so I do I, actually, b/c I don't get my birthing tub til friday! ). The MW doesn't "allow" homebirths before week 37, either.

So, while I do agree with him, it's super-frustrating!

Weirdly, I also have an appointment today with our backup (a CNM) and she's going to be doing the GBS, and I'm actually kinda hoping she'll do a pelvic, just for fun, to see what's going on in there (I'd do one myself, but I can't reach!) This is a far cry from my "I don't care, I don't wanna know" stance earlier...

Then again, I may change my mind after she tells me I'm not at all effaced. That would be dispointing...

Mmmm, contracty... I've had a few nice strong ones today. Yesterday I was getting the nausea and loose stools. DHs are so funny. Mine says the same thing!

""And lots of ewcm; I'm drowning in the stuff ""

I soo know what you mean there-I thought my water had broken yesterday!!
MW comes tomorrow-hopefully she will say all of those cx did something-I was juat barely 4 last week so it should be really soon-especially if I made any progress last night!!

I think I will join you guys. I feel like I have been in really early labor for 2 weeks now. I have never been dialated or effaced before full term birth and am approx 75% and 2 cm at 36 wks. So I am glad of that but am wondering what is triggering it this time. I am having them round the clock ranging from a couple an hr to 6 min apart. Really starting to wear me out. I have decided to go see the ob I saw in early pregnancy for an u/s and general check to make sure there is nothing wrong that is triggering these on Thursday. I am hoping to hold out until next week as we are planning a hb as well. Watch though all this worry and I will go over due this time.

So I started having wake me from sleeping, doze back off, wake me from sleeping again ctx at around 6:45 this morning. Pretty regular. I had a little blood tinged mucus yesterday and had a decent amount of non-blood tinged mucus throughout the night as I went back and forth to the bathroom, peeing my little heart out.

I had backache to accompany me with those early morning ctx and was slightly nauseas yesterday. I'm having ctx but they're not as frequent as they were early this morning. Ah, there's one now...

Some light blood staining, like the very start or end of AF.

DH is wanting to rent the car and everything already even though I told him this could go on for days.

I hope things are dilating nice and good in there!
whoohoo, mcb! It does sound good...

How much leetime do you need to rent the car? (And do you need it order to get to the birth center/ hospital?) I think having the car for a few days in advance of needing it might be a good idea, b/c then you don't have to worry about going into active labor (and needing DH for support, or just to bring you drinks! ) while he's trying to rent a car, KWIM?

But, then again, renting a car can be expensive... so, it's a tricky situation!
at budget rentals a weekly rental is cheaper than by the day. We had to rent one over the summer.

MW came today-still at a three not quite 4 but she said she wasn't going to poke around too much because everything was very soft. So if this is like my other labors I have about a week to go. Which is good because I was getting antsy about him being so big already.
Ohhh mcb, that sounds awfully promising!!!!!! Good luck to you! I have had the lower back cramping, nausea, and loose stools now since Saturday, and yesterday I had a contraction that actually lasted 2.5 minutes!! I am still hoping the babe can wait until next week though, I think I'm the only one here who WANTS the baby to wait!!
