Any other 42 week mamas around besides me?

Today is 42 weeks for me, I guess that makes me a two-time 10-month mama! I had hoped that this wouldn't happen, but had a "feeling" it would. And I'm not really showing signs of going anytime soon. *sigh*

It seems like the other babies are coming really fast, lots of birth announcements. Am I the only one this "overdue" at this point?

My MW comes this morning... I'm considering castor oil/homeopathics, but I probably won't do that until Wed-Friday. I'd like to give nature a bit more time. After 43 weeks I would need to go in for BPP but I really don't want to go 43 weeks!!!

I'm not but I'm afraid I will be and I hate the agony of making a decision at 43 weeks. I was hoping to avoid hospitals altogether and I know they will start twisting my arm if I go in for a BPP that late to just do c/s right away since induction isn't a good option for me as a VBAC (unless I suppose I'm pretty much in labor, in which case, it's not needed). Hopefully my mw and I can figure out when a sympathetic doctor who respects choice is on call so I can actually feel like I have a choice if everything with the baby seems fine.

Were you induced last time or did you go into labor yourself after 42?

I was induced with cytotec at 42 weeks with my dd and it was *not* a pleasant experience, though I did end up with a vaginal birth.

My MW just left- I'm still only 2 cm though I am very soft. I don't know quite what to do... an option on the table is castor oil but I'm just reluctant to go that route. A MW friend on another board has suggested Master Gland so now I'm trying to get hold of that but cannot find it in stores locally, but she could overnight it to me. If this baby doesn't come by Thursday I will probably try one or the other- I just don't want to go 43 weeks!

*sigh* I'm having more intense contractions at the moment b/c I just had a cervical check. Don't want to get too excited, though, I'm sure they'll go away soon.

Go have lots of sex and nipple stimulation, hopefully that will help get hose contractions going Good luck & labour

I'm 10 days over and I have a check up tomorrow at which the Dr wants me to schedule an induction for Thursday (1 day shy of 42 wks). I don't know if I should hold out or not. My first was 8 days late, but came on her own without a problem. I know my Dr really does not want me to go over 42 wks, but maybe if I can hold out over the weekend, he will come. *sigh* I don't know.
Elizabeth- thank you so much for responding to my post at pregnancy resources, those links really gave me something to think about.

Well, ladies, today I am trying a Master Gland induction... I'm going to take 2 capsules every 30 minutes throughout the day until I get a headache. Hopefully it'll be enough to get things moving for me... a friend who has done this says that you take them throughout the day and then usually go into labor that night. It can take a day or so, though. I do think hormone regulation is my "issue" so I hope this will work. After what happened with Becca, I'm reluctant to try the castor oil!

I think if I didn't do *something* at this point, I would go 43+ weeks. This baby is just too comfortable!

Elizabeth... maybe you'll start another baby tidal wave at the other boards. I hope the Master Gland works!

What's Master Gland?

I'm not quite 42 weeks, but I will be if I don't go into labor by Saturday. :

I was getting a little worried about what going so late will mean for my HBAC, but my MW (saw her yesterday) said everything looks good and unless anything changes (low fluid, etc) she is comfortable with me going to 43 weeks before we have to make the hospital decision. That's encouraging for me, because I feel like 10 days is a long time and I'm trying to be positive that I will most likely go on my own before then.

BUT.... that doesn't mean I'm not trying to get things going with a few gentle nudges. I'm currently taking 5-W (herbs), walking a lot (on an incline on the treadmill - rocks the hips and hopefully helps baby engage), sex, chiropractic adjustments, considering accupuncture, will do castor oil by mid next week if I still haven't gone.

I had a chiro appt yesterday (my first... better late than never, right?) and I do feel a lot more pressure down low, like maybe the baby dropped after my pelvis was opened up. Some lower back pain this morning too, but that might be from the adjustment itself, or even possibly from the awkward, uncomfortable sex I had with DH last night.

So yeah... I'm just right about there with ya. But I'm hopeful and staying positive that ALL of us post date mamas will go into labor very, very soon.

Elizabeth...have you gone to a chiropractor at all? I was thinking maybe that would help.

: for labor vibes to come your way. You are such a patient mama! I admire you wanting to do what is best for baby and just hang in there. I went to 41 weeks with ds1 and dd...and that was tough for me

Sorry, I am not in this due date club. Wanted to pop in and give some prayers though

How is everyone doing today?

So, did it work? What's happening with it? And did anyone answer that ??? about what that Master Gland was? I'm curious about it now.

I'm not really sure if the Master Gland has helped me much- I'm in early labor now but have done a lot of other things. But next pregnancy I am starting Master Gland at 37 weeks- I have heard that it really does help mama's like me come closer to their EDD!

So in addition to the Master Gland, in the past few days I have done castor oil (twice), homepathic blue/black cohosh, exercise, sex, nipple stim courtesy of my nursing toddler, etc. Yesterday I had "timeable" contractions 13-22 minutes apart that completely went away when I went to bed... ended up getting a good night's sleep though. Woke up, had a breakdown and cried for an hour, took second dose of castor oil, which did nothing I thought (one potty visit). My MW called, said she wanted to come listen to baby's heart tones. Right after she called, I started contracting again and having some show, though I wasn't sure if it was show or just b/c of getting together with dh last night. (it was show.)

My MW checked me, I was a roomy 2.5 cm, and went ahead and stripped my membranes- I was so soft/loose that it literally didn't hurt at all. We got 4 good contractions following that and she was able to listen to the baby who sounds GREAT, no problems handling them at all.

So I'm not sure what role the Master Gland has played in all this, but I know the day I tried it I had show for the first time. I do think it did *something.* My MW says she thinks my body needed some "time off" and a good rest to really get going for real. I'm doing the actual herbal blue/black cohosh today, to help keep things going. So maybe this is it for me! I'm contracting quite a bit now, but realize that is likely b/c of my membranes being stripped exagerrating things somewhat.
