Camden David was born Monday, April 17th, 2006 at 5:24p.m. weighing 7lbs 11oz and measuring 19 inches long. He wasn't born as I had planned- that was my first lesson as a new parent- that you can't plan anything.
I went in for a regular prenatal appointment with my midwife. I had her check me since I was having prodromal labor for 3 days before, and I thought I was leaking amniotic fluid for a couple of days. I was 1 cm dilated and 60-70% effaced. She got a worried look on her face and asked me if it was okay to do an ultrasound. I said okay, as long as you feel it is necessary. So I went across the hall and my midwife came in and the tech pointed to something on the screen. First, the baby had turned breech. Second, I had been leaking fluid and was extrememly low and not replenishing it fast at all. Everyone was concerned about a cord accident and the fact of baby being breech, so I was taken for a c-section.
The midwife assures me that I can VBAC next time, and knows how disappointed I am about the whole thing. But, the outcome is the same- and I now have my beautiful son Camden. Brian is a wonderful daddy by the way! And breastfeeding is going well- a little painful, but well
What an incredible feeling to know that I am keeping him alive!
I will post pics when I am feeling up to it.
