Question--thought you might be able to help.

I received a diaper in the mail recently that is very nicely made. However I noticed as I was looking at it that one little part of the knit outer has a loose thread (like a snag--with a thread sticking out)--not at the seam--in the middle of the outer diaper. Should I worry about the knit fabric unraveling and if so is there anything I should do now? It was a brand new diaper I got from a WAHM. (But I did try it on my son because I really wanted to see if it was going to fit him--had questions about sizing--and it does, perfectly! He ended up peeing a little bit in the diaper so I can't replace it). TIA!

It's not an AIO is it? If not, maybe you could just take a needle and thread and stitch over the flaw so that it doesn't unravel. (if it's an AIO, I'd worry about ruining the waterproof layer) If you're totally unhandy, or just don't want to do it yourself, wash the dipe and send it back to the WAHM and see if she can correct the flaw for you.

It is definitely a flaw IMO but not a big one. I would mention it to the WAHM and see what you can work out, especially if you are going to buy more diapers from her.

One way to fix the snag is to pull it to the other side of the knit outer. It is a little tricky but not impossible. You need a needle with a hole large enough to thread the snag through. Insert the needle at the snag partway, thread the snag through the eye, then pull the needle and the snag the rest of the way through. Voila! The snag diappears and you don't have to worry about your ds pulling on it and causing a run. A little Fraycheck on the spot couldn't hurt either.

For a small snag like that, it might not be worth the aggravation of returning it, especially if you like the diaper. I'd try some fray check or even a dab of clear nail polish to keep the hole from growing. On the other hand, if you paid a lot for the diaper, it might be worth returning.

Thanks for your help! I was so stupid to let DS pee in it. But I love the diaper! I think I will try to thread it back through the other side. Thanks!

ETA: It isn't an AIO--it is a fitted with a cotton knit outer.
