Good for your ds for standing up for himself. I don't give my ds limits on what is in the house. I actually think it's kind of mean to give a kid a basket with candy, then not let him have it. Conditional gifts suck .

they were given so much chocolate thi easter if i gave it to ds 1 all at once he would eat till he vomited - hes done it before.

trying to give it in small doses, next time i will choose 2 for him - seeing stuff and not getting to keep it when you are 3 is WAY too hard.

the boys went to 3 egg hunts this easter!

Julian says "You're making me cry" "You hurt my feelings" and "You're mean to me!" all the time. It drives me nuts, it's so sad and ridiculously funny all at once.

Then he learns what happens if he eats too much (I don't mean to sound callous). I'd have done what I could to minimize the original quantity, but that is easy for me since we aren't very social. I was envisioning YOU giving him a basket stuffed with candy, then limiting him which was not the case. Depending on who hosted the hunts, maybe you could make a movement for less candy in the eggs. I was going to host one, and managed to come up with quite a bit of non-candy stuffers; things like stickers, bandaids, erasers, mini bunny graham crackers, plastic easter mazes that fit in the larger size egg, etc. I wasn't comfortable going through with my plan because we had a man with a knife break open our locked front door while we were home in the middle of the morning and demand all our money. It seemed a little improper to tell people about that and in the next breath invite them over for an Easter party . At Halloween, I made all the candy with partially hydrogenated oil disappear before we got home, so I'm not a completely uncontrolling person. Better luck next year .
