Does your microfleece "work"?

I have finally everything ready to start sewing but I am starting to get so paranoied about so many things!!
I don't have a baby to test my diapers on so I am really worried about making too many diapers that won't fit or won't work!
I have bought microfleece from Joann's fabrics and then I've heard somewhere that it repels water instead of sucking it away from the skin!!
Please tell me it works!! I have some fleece from MM as well, but I bought remnants and I can't really tell what type of fleece I got! I definetly have some very lightweight fleece, but I can't tell if it's microfleece or 100 weight.
I have so much fabric here - I don't wanna go and buy another microfleece to make sure it will work.

So please, tell me what types of microfleece work for you and what don't.

TIA!

I still wouldn't get too busy making tons of diapers before testing them out. Everyone told me that joann's alova suede worked great too, and because my little guy pees fast it doesn't have time to wick through and he ends up with wet clothes. THANK GOODNESS I only made XS diapers so it wasn't a total waste. I'd be using sposies by now if I had wasted all that time & fabric making diapers that didn't work.

I'm sticking with cotton this time. I change him often anyway, he doesn't need a stay dry layer.

I bought microfleece at Wazoodle (5yds of it) and then became all scared because a few people posted that it pills like crazy. Mine hasn't pilled yet and has been washed several times so I've quite happy with it. It did take me a few diapers and a few questions to figure out why it wasn't working as a stay-dry layer though - apparently there is a wrong side and a right side. If you gently stretch the fleece it will curl towards the wrong side; make sure the right side is facing out in your diaper. I love it and apart from the pocket I cut out yesterday (which has a suedecloth inner) all my diapers use microfleece as the next-to-baby layer.
