Alright, if I have this straight microfleece and 100 weight fleece are used to wick moisture away from the skin and polar, windpro, 200, and 300 weight fleece acts as a waterproof barrier. So basically lighter fleece wicks and thicker fleece is water proof, right? I've also read that if you use two layers of thinner fleece it works for an outer layer as well. So, if I bought thin fleece could I use two layers for a cover and one layer for a stay dry liner?
I'm asking because my mom bought me a bunch of thin fleece with cute baby prints on it and she says she thinks it's like microfleece. She was confused, though, and thought I wanted microfleece for a cover and when I said microfleece was for stay dry liners, she was a little upset. Which brings me to my other question. My mom totally against me using any synthetic fabrics next to the baby's skin, so when I tried to explain what microfleece and suedecloth are used for, she was really upset by it and is pretty bent out of shape about me even wanting to try it. She says the baby will get a rash and break out and it'll be total chaos. Can someone tell me what to tell her so that she gets less upset? It took me forever to even convince her it was okay to use fleece for a cover because she said that fleece will make the baby get too hot, and when I got some PUL she just thought that was totally unnecessary and wanted me to use rainwear. It's been tough... any help?
