My baby has a latching problem I use an electric pump and feed her with a bottle for now we are seeing a physical therapist for cranial sacrial therapy and working with her at home we see a lactation consultant this Thursday I still havent given up and she is a month old at least Iam able to give her my breast milk and that is what I have to remember but it still makes me sad as I breast fed my last baby with no problems this one came a day before 38 weeks but her weight is where it should be.Hang in there mamma have you tried milk thistle to get your milk in? also drink 96 ounces of water a day and lots of orange juice that and the electric pump was how I got my milk to come in since she couldnt latch on to my breasts.

Using the electric pump. we've tried all the herbs. It's tough, that's for sure!

That's wonderful!!! I can't wait to see more pics of her.

I'm doing the "she's now a term baby" when people ask Marlow's age...but my baby has gotten pretty chunky.

Does Sam like being in a sling? I can't get my babe to enjoy it yet...but i just have a basic ring sling

Sorry you're having so much trouble with nursing. It can take a really long time, but I advise you that if you can stick it out, she will probably learn how. It took us 3 months, but she did learn. I know how hard it is with the pumping and herbs and nipple shields...man, I remember those days and I felt like this : all the time.

On the sling I found that my babe, especially because she had some preemie reflux issues, liked the ring sling when I used it with her upright, facing inward, between my breasts. legs can be crossed inside the pouch part of the sling or dangle out, and the sling makes a pocket under their butt (if that makes sense).

Oh yeah, I'm sorry to barge in on your DDC! I just like to check in on the preemie moms and babies...

We don't have a sling yet...it's one of those things we need to save up for. I need one soon though...this babe loves to be held!

Sam finally reached her due date last Tuesday (6/27), after what felt like an eternity, but also flew by!!

She's up around 8 pounds now, and doing fantastically well. We never got the hang of nursing, and my milk has dried up completely (pumping, hand expression, etc. yield nothing) so that part of our relationship is a thing of the past. I'm trying to be as close to her as possible in all other aspects of our daily life since we don't get that one! Also trying not to be too hard on myself about it!

We saw her opthamologist (her eyes are perfect) and her cardiologist (pretty sure the holes in her heart closed already!) so all is well. We go in August to her NICU clinic to check her development, but she seems to be doing fairly well. She lifts her head up and rolls it around when we put her on her tummy, and she can roll from her tummy to her back and back to tummy. She's starting to focus on faces for very brief periods of time, and about one in every 6 times she'll smile when we tickle her lips. She's also becoming much more vocal, and "talks" a lot while we sit together or lay in bed.

The sling has been a lifesaver, for sure. And I actually get more looks/people approaching me while I'm slinging her than I did when I was just carrying around a 5 pound baby! It's crazy how many people are awed by the sling. She digs it, and likes to face out to the world when she's awake. If I try and lay her down next to me she pitches a fit.

We STILL don't have a new camera, and I'm freaking out! I gotta take pics of my babe! Hopefully next week we can remedy that.
