Kefir grain needed (pref. water grain)

I've been reading about kefir lately, and I think our family needs it. I thought someone (not from MDC) was going to send me one, but she hasn't responded to my latest email, and I haven't recieved anything. So, I'm in the market. I'd be more than happy to send postage!

We can't eat dairy, so I would be kefiring coconut milk and maybe juice. I think it would be best for us to use a water grain. That way I could keep it alive, and I wouldn't be posting here again in 6 mos. And if I take really good care of it, I could send some out to others who need them.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

If no one has a water grain they can send, does anyone know of a place to buy one? I've only ever seen them given online, but surely they come from somewhere, right??

I think water grains are harder to come by. Someone overseas may sell them? BUT, you can make dairy kefir grains water grains. They don't propogate, so if something happens to them, you'll need to get more. But that shouldn't be hard. How I did it (I wanted some grains dedicated to kefir sodas), was I put my grains into sugar water for a bit and then just started using them in sodas. If I were you I'd try to batches, one dedicated to coconut milk and one to juice.
