My Ped told me to take a recently used bandaid from my ds and put it in a double baggie and put it in the freezer.

Thanks ladies for all the replies. The kits were handed out from the Board of Ed., and after I read the instructions more carefully, it said to put all DNA collected in the freezer. The lab they had on their was out of Louisiana and you write to them if you have any further questions.

. Good idea, my dd is always scraping something and LOVES band-aids. The kid also said to even put a baby tooth that fell out.

but if the kit stays in the parents possession then couldn't they just use the parents DNA at the time of an abduction to do the same thing? They wouldn't even know the kit exists if the parent isn't around to tell them there is one, and they could just compare the parents DNA to the child's DNA when they find the child. or am i just missing something?

On the other hand having up-to-date pictures is always useful. and Its going to be increasingly difficult to use DNA stuff to determine inherited traits and who is the parent of a found child because of invitro technology, i guess this would be the best senerio because they couldn't say its not your child if the DNA doesn't match yours if you already have a kit
