and the swap joy continues....

I received some gorgeous yarn from spiralmg and promptly whipped up (crocheted) a cute snowy white ruffly cap for Lucy to wear (which she has often). Of course I've totally neglected to take photos of that : but soon I will!!!! She didn't wear it today though -- it got up to 88!!!!!

And tomorrow (um, tonight... .. Sunday night, we'll say) it's supposed to snow .. gotta love WY weather...

Anyway, the *other* real reason I'm posting this is purely for showing off!!! And of course thanking allnaturalmama, my other swap partner!!!

She sent me the Most Gorgeous organic materials (short loop velour, sherpa, jersey and a green knit with 'Lucy' embroidered on it). I have made a diaper with the OV and ... oh.. it's heaven! But dirty at the moment....

BUT... today I just made a diaper with the sherpa, using the Darling Diaper fitted pattern (sans the leg casings because I wanted more room to potentially stuff the diaper since I think it will be a nighttime diaper for us!)!

So.... here it is!

The inside

The outside!

I am in total with the metalic bronze snaps with these natural fibers!!!!

(ooh.. and while I'm showing off... I did have fun with the camera taking photos of another diaper I made today.. it's not organic, but it's cute I think )

I just wanted to give out another HUGE THANK YOU to allnaturalmama for feeding my fabric addiction (ooh... and where did you get that jersey?! It is The Softest Stuff in the world! Seriously... I just want to pet it all the time ... I made an insert with some and it's just lovely! I think it would be wonderful as a lightweight dress material... baby caps, summer sleep sacks, etc... so I was just wondering if I could get some more somewhere)!

Great looking diapers! Nice fluff showing!

You are so sweet, Judy! And that dipe is just darling. What organics lack in color, they sure make up for in yummy squishiness, don't they?

About the jersey, Jenny from www.tinybirds.com recommended it to me - it's the one she uses to make her natural-colored wraps that she sells here. She says it's her favorite for softness. I've only tried one other organic jersey that I got through a co-op, but the tactile difference between the two was noticable. Here's a link to the source, but unfortunately, it's out of stock right now. The retailer, nearseanaturals.com has several other organic jerseys in stock, but this is the only one I've tried, on Jenny's recommendation.

Oh, and BTW, have you decided what you're going to make with the "Lucy" fabric?

No! I have no clue what I'm going to do with the "Lucy" fabric still :

What I really need to do, I think, is get a walking foot for my sewing machine. Sewing with knits can get a bit tricky otherwise (at least when using quite a few layers, as happens in diapering!) and I *so* don't want to mess up that gorgeous knit (ooh.. that reminds me.. I haven't taken a picture of that yet but now that I've found the joys of photobucket, I could maybe take a picture and take suggestions?!?)

Kelly... yes, I do have a snap press ( it!) and I used the Darling Diapers fitted pocket pattern for this one. I have a few other patterns ... the Very Baby AIO, the Poquito Pants, the Very Baby side-snap cover, the Darling Diapers AIO, and I've also used the Wee Weka pattern (it's free! and really, I *love* it too!).

I'll have to get some pictures of some of the wee weka fitteds -- there's one in particular that's made of brown velour and has spring green (minty-colored) snaps! I call it "The Grasshopper" (you know, those minty cookies?)

Hey Judy, do you have the link to the Wee Wika pattern?

good looking diaper!

I found it at http://thenappynetwork.org.nz/index.php I think you click on diy and there are several patterns there. The one that I want to try is the side snap FOE training pants. It seems real verital and has directions for 3 ways to make the same pattern.

Here ya go, Pan: http://www.thenappynetwork.org.nz/diy.php

So far I've only sewn from the small/medium side-snapping pocket pattern. I have made true pocket diapers from it (PUL/microfleece) and then just made true fitteds (minus the pocket) as well.

Others have tried the training knickers pattern and used it for pull-on covers from fleece and wool and loved it as well! (I haven't gotten quite that far yet!)

If you make some I'd love to see them!!

(I'll post some photos of mine as soon as we get even MORE batteries for the dang power-sucking camera )
