This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

Labor started at about 8am Tuesday morning after a weekend of false alarms. I had a dr's appointment that I went to. Didn't tell them I thought I was in labor. Hospital clinic, not very happy with them at all. I didn't want to be poked, prodded, rushed along. Contractions were regular from the beginning at about 3 minutes apart, but not intense. They intensified on my way home and went to about 2 minutes apart. I got home repacked my bags and DD's and then went to lunch with DH and DD. Burger King was on the way so we stopped and ate. I stood the whole time, because it was the most comfortable. By the time we left I was in more pain and they were only about a minute apart so we decided to skip the slippers. We dropped DD at MIL's and headed to the hospital. We were in a room by 2 and I was at 4cm. As soon as they got done with the initial strip I headed to the shower. I was only in there about a half hour until DH flipped out and thought I was going to give birth in the shower. He got the nurses and they made me get out. Back in bed and I'm at 7 cm. At this point I couldn't stand on my own so I stayed in bed. It seemed like no time at all, but it was about an hour and the nurses kept telling me not to push. I kept telling them I couldn't help it. Then the resident comes in and explains that I shouldn't push because I could tear my cervix if I'm not dilated enough. Then she gives me the whole line on how they don't know how far I am because I don'l want them to check me. So I was like then check me because I knew it was getting real close and wouldn't you know it there I was at 9cm. So they get the on call doc and they finally stop yelling at me for pushing. Less then 30 minutes of pushing and a 3rd degree episiotomy later out comes my baby boy's head face up at 5:27pm. The nurse says god bless you and I'm wondering what is going on. Out come the shoulders and the dr says look at these ******* shoulders he's going to be a football player. While they're fixing me up he's weighed in at 8 lbs 12 oz. I was expecting him to be bigger then DD, but 1 lb 10 oz, I couldn't believe it. I nursed him and then he went off to the nursery with DH. I later found out that he had low glucose and they gave him a bottle. I was fuming, but I wasn't in a position to do anything and DH thinks formula is just fine. We made up for it with lots of good colustrum/breastmilk.
I got out of the hospital thursday and ended up in the emergency room friday. While going to the bathroom a mass came out which I would find out in the ER was surgical gauze they had forgotton about. Not only that it was actually stitched on. Thank god my allergies have been bothering me and all the sneezing had forced it out. The resident who removed it was careful not to disturb the stitches, so thankfully I didn't have to go through that again. Then the on call doc... not the same one... did and internal exam to make sure that there was nothing else left. Quite painful, especially with those still fresh stitches. Thankfully an infection didn't develop. Everyone I've talked to thinks that I should sue. I haven't made up my mind yet.
Aside from that everything is going well. We're just adjusting to life with two kids.
