June mommas with our 10 and 11month olds!!! - Page 8

ok, ive had to skim through the posts so that i could reply!
bmama: leave my spelling alone, although you usually hold good restraint

Louis is saying nothing but a weird grunt......all the time, its tim the tool man style...mathilda was also a slow talker. he also is not a co-sleeper he slept with me one night this week when he was sick, so when he was better i tried again, the kid just sits in bed and tried to crawl off (which he can do) but on the other hand my 4 year old still loves sleeping with me

Lost: never watched an episode as it involved a plane crash, but six feet under i love.

emmy: dont need to apoligise for tv watching, im the gilmore girls fan HAHAHA, beat that for cheesy!

anne: sorry about the house, that is such a dissapointment

SA: im sure the bradley thing would be great, is it something you would like to do in the evenings and move away from the buisness or full time?

Michelle: congrats on the engagement!!!! im very happy for you, it sounds like coming back was the healthy thing, but coming home was always hard for me, its like you never really belong again.

mcs: are you still using your wrap sling? im using the hotsling on the hip alot, but i want some sort of back carry, still cant get him into it right

ok, louis has been tryi ng to sleep for 1 hour, he hasnt had any nap all day (now 14.30!)

Good morning!!!!!!!!!!!! Rise and shine everyone!!!

No I'm not typically a cheery morning person...I just seem to be the first one on after Nancy!

I hate dreading chores....I have to clean out our Gas Grill today....Not gonna be f un. Something in there got everywhere and the other day i was trying to cook hamburgers and i look out there and it was a raging inferno inside there. Scary...I am scared of natural gas! So our poor hamburgers were on fire...we had chicken instead!

How did everyone sleep?

hi mamas... i'm back from the cottage and i've read the whole thread, but no time to reply! i'm starting summer school classes today, so i'm straight back into the grind. sigh!

istra was sick last night... threw up all her dinner within 2 hours or so. it was so strange, she just laid in my lap and didn't cry and occasionally rolled over and puked in my hand. after the 2 hours or so she just went to sleep. she's okay this morning; acting totally normal and happy. i think it might have been something she ate (as in, the cheese I fed her with her spaghetti)... but who knows.

i think she has some words, but i'm not sure. i think she's said "kitty", "dada" and "light" and "hi"... but she doesn't do it very often so I'm not sure.

all for now...

Noni sounded like he was trying to copy me. (I didn't use the word I wanted because I'm to lazy to figure out proper spelling! ) I was saying Buh bye daddy I love you and he was making the dada part and then sounded like he was trying to say love you! Probably my ears playing tricks but he probably is trying to talk! It is human nature to want to communicate!

Anna that is to bad anyways and I know what its like!

Well I have to get going! We are feeling a little up and down here but I haven't actually been sick.

Well have a great day!

OMG! Dd just colored the living room carpet with a yellow marker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!
bama: oh no!!! Please tell me you only allow the washable markers in your house! They are so easy to get out (at least as far as clothes go and the walls). I'm not a domestic goddess to I have no other offerings as far as how to get it off. We'd better take a collection up for you for those crayola color wonder markers that only color on the special paper. They were wonderful last summer when we had them at a wedding. Didn't have to worry about them coloring their dresses.

I took a massive handful of baby wipes and scrubbed at it...it is now fairly faint on the silver carpet

~SIGH~~

If you're gonna take up an offering, I want one of those big Hoover Steamvac Carpet Scrubbers!!

Check the manufacturers website. They often have tips for how to get their products out of carpets, clothing, etc.

It's not really noticeable now...and you can barely see it under all the toys!!

Ok, here's a confession/vent.
I'm really starting to hate nursing! I wish it was different
Titus is just sooo intense, and I'm tired of being sucked on all night long. My nipples feel like they're constantly healing form some bite or blister or something. Parenting him has given me the patience of a friggin' saint, but I feel so tapped out.

I find myself countingt he days till I can night wean him :
And I'm secretly jealous of all the dcs here who have already weaned : Titus still goes days with eating any solids at all, he's a boobie man all the way!
I love the idea of nursing him till he's two, but this all night waking and eating thing is taking it's toll on me.

He's been having his normal terrible nights again and I'm just sick of it. I'm sleeping in 45 mintue chunks again :

Maybe if I night wean him we'll sleep better. And maybe it will help our nursing relationship last longer if I'm not so resentful and have some boundaries. So, that's the plan right now as soon as Pat graduates in June and can help with the night time parenting. Please don't be mad at me, guys! I know he won't even quite be a year old by then, and that it will be Ugly when we do it.

Grace... I can't imagine any of us would be MAD at you for wanting sleep!!! I think you are beyond amazing for going as long as you have with things the way they are for you.

Hi gang,

Funny that you mention that, Grace, because Danny is thisclose to weaning. He didn't nurse during the night for a couple days (heaven!) and that seems to have dried up the last of my supply. The last couple of nights I've tried nursing him in the middle of the night and it just doesn't seem to help him at all (I had to get up and make him a bottle to get him back to sleep). I feel guilty because I don't feel bad about him weaning -- but really, it's been a big drag from the get-go. We never really got to the easy part of nursing.

Just caught up on all the posts -- we've been in the middle of a mini-drama here where we decided to sell our house and buy something a little bigger and a little nicer in a less desirable neighborhood (but not a tiny house on a dirty street ). Anyway, all that was well and good until the realtor came here yesterday to tell me everything that is wrong with our house and that we paid too much for it two years ago -- that selling it now would be a money-loser for us. Man, it sucked! I was totally deflated. I'm feeling a lot better about it today, just calling the whole thing a "reality check" and looking forward to fixing some things around here to make it nicer while we are here, and so that we can sell it in a hurry should we choose to do so.

That's about it. I am enjoying an uncharacteristically quiet afternoon because Miles is kind of sick today -- it's awful to say, but it is almost always a nice change when he's ill because he is so mellow and easy-going :Bag. Danny is all spread out in his pack-and-play too -- two boys asleep!

And I'm going out tonight to see my friend Erik (the old-timers will remember him as our roommate when I was pg) do an open mic at a coffee house-- I'm going to bring my brand-new hobby, crocheting.

Last thing -- about babies talking, I think I read somewhere that it's quite unusual for them to say much of anything before they're well into the second year. One reason signing is such a good idea! Miles didn't say much 'til after he turned two, enough that I was a tad concerned, but he has certainly made up for lost time. Danny says, "Mamama" and "Heeeey" and "Yeah." And he too can suck through a straw -- I was amazed! He wants to be big like Miles sooooo bad.

Pictures!!!!

HEre is the link to my latest shutterfly..I started at Christmas, and stretched it all the way to April! AND we have a new digital camera, so I will learn how to dump pics !

http://share.shutterfly.com/action/w...1aOWFh&notag=1

See how much they've grown!! The one on the cover of the album is me and the kids on Christmas morning! Ha!

Weaning....I still miss nursing. HE hasn't nursed in at least a month. He is undoubtedly growing like a weed on the formula though, so I can't complain. It just seems really absurd to have a baby this age not nursing.

Meli...I thought you put him on formula way back around Christmas? I seem to remember giving you a tutorial on making bottles??

Grace...'I nightweaned dd at 9.5 months. She was wearing me out. I would just go in to her crib and lay her back down and give her her paci again. I would also make sure that I fed her as much cereal and bananas as she would hold about 45 mins before bedtime, and then nurse her at bedtime . Nice dark room, fan running, night light very dim, rocking in the glider....all very soothing. It took two or three nights. I never made her wail forever, I just told her "It's night night, go back to sleep." When she woke around 4 or 5 -ish I just nursed her in the rocker and put her back to bed. She always went back to sleep. Maybe you could create a bedtime routine for him....does he have a room you could make for him? Give him his own space to sleep? He is so big, he might appreciate a crib to stretch out in.

If you aren't comfortable with him being out of your bed, or your room, have you read the "No cry sleep solution" ???

That's all I can think of....sorry!

Now...I TOTALLY expect feedback on how cute my kiddos are!!!!!!!!

Awesome pictures, bama!! I love the ones of them playing together. I also love the one of Schuy laying in front of what looks like the couch with this "yeah, I'm cool" look on his face. They are adorable, and you look great!

Grace - you know, Cully nurses like that (ie, CONSTANTLY and VORACIOUSLY) when I'm not giving him enough solids. I forget sometimes that he's growing so quickly, and while he would totally be a boob man for days on end if I let him, he would be nursing 23 hours a day. Have you tried just offering more solids to Titus to see if the nursing cuts down to a bearable amount? If he isn't a big fan of solids, try oatmeal mixed with breastmilk. On days when I feel like he's nursing me dry and I'm totally touched-out and not enjoying nursing, if I think about what he's had to eat, more often than not he's not getting enough solids. He also makes up for what he's not getting during the day by powernursing all night long, so I've figured out that it's just very simple - the boy needs more to eat.
I don't know, maybe worth a shot?

THey are adorable, Bama!!!

Nightweaning ~ I see how it could be done with baby in a crib... but how the heck do people nightwean WHILE co-sleeping? It totally seems impossible to me.
The NCSS tells how to nightwean while cosleeping. I read it awhile back.
Oh, I am so there with you--I'm looking forward to weaning and not being scratched, pinched, bitten, knawed on or woken up 8 times a night. But we cosleep so I'm not sure how to do it or if we're sleeping right (I've been checking craigslist though for a bigger mattress). I try feeding him more, but I think he likes the nipple better.

Got to run...crying baby...has cold...
I thought the Dr. Gordon thing was nightweaning for co-sleepers? I've gotten Istra down to one night nursing using that method and she is co-sleeping still.
Oh...I've seen that there are ways to ntwean/cosleep... I'm just saying it doesn't seem possible. Like, thinking about what you are supposed to do when babe wakes ... I don't even realize that i am nursing half the time.
